Hello:

Can I download a trial version of PD 9 ultra even though I have 8 delux already? I am looking into the 9 ultra and just want to test ride it first.

Thanks,

JMK

Installing version 9 will uninstall version 8, and the PDS files are not backward compatible.

Furthermore, version 9 might do unpleasant things to a version 8 project. I would recommend finishing any ongoing projects, and making certain that you can re-install version 8 if you need to. Jerry Schwartz

I wouldn't advise you to try PD 9 yet until they have fixed a lot of the bugs. I wish I'd read the forum 1st before I upgraded to the new version.

Yeah make sure you can still re-install PD8 if you do decide to try it out. I will be uninstalling PD9 & reverting back to 8 before I do my next project.

Anyway, good luck whatever you decide to do.

Peter

Hi JMK

Peter's comments make alot of sense

Try and 'upgrade' to PD8 Ultra and 'ride out the storm' until PD9 is 'fixed', 'cos it will be absolutely awesome when it is.

Just my opinion :

Sounds like great advice from from people that been their done that already.

I may just stick with PD8 delux for now and as you guys said "wait out the storm"...

Not mocking PD9, but all new software needs their ginni pigs to help fix new program glitches.

Thanks guys/gals

I would echo this feedback. Stay away from PD9 until they fix it. I suspect that the quality control in this company is not very good, as they released a very buggy product. I have PD8 and upgraded to PD9.....I ran into all sorts of problems.....not to mention slow tech support. Fortunately, Cyberlink offers a 30 money back deal, so I just got my refund and re-installed PD8

So, save yourself some grief and wait....maybe a year or so.

Thanks for the info.

I have yet to have any problems with PD 8 Delux. Not sure 8 Ultra is even worth the change over. I was just thinking 9 Ultra would be a more updrage (if all was running good) as to 8 Ultra from 8 Delux.

I will wait untill bugs are gone.

I upgraded yesterday from PD8. Installed all patches. PD9 freezes constantly. Many, many instances of CES_IPCAgent running. Just uninstalled. Re-installing PD8.
Running on Windows 7 64 bits. Really disapointed with PD9. PD8 is great.

I guess I will be waiting out the storm as well. Don't have the time to be an alpha tester.

Sorry for the extra bad news.

I hear ya... PD8 Delux is running fine on my machine. When I 1st got PD8 it was the same thing with new patches and glitches. But I will give it time, but really looking forward to 9Ultra.
