i have an hp g56-141us notebook pc. 64bit windows 7 home premium
it came with cyberlink youcam programs, but when i try to launch the youcam it says if using an intergrated camera please turn it on. i dont know how....
ive looked over the internet, some say there is no webcam just a microphone, some say i need a driver though there is a cyberlink virtual webcam driver in device manager there is no imaging device. is it the software or driver or did the notebook never have one? there are programs there for the youcam. the microphone works but the camera wont turn on. when i used it on facebook it took a black picture but detected both the camera and the microphone.
the only reason i got this model pc was for the webcam it said it came with. hp website was no good and i dont know where else to look. any help much awaited. thank you..

Hi Cherly,

I can't be certain how to turn on your webcam, because I have never used this type of laptop.

However, take a look at the suggestions in this thread. See if any work for you:

Apparently you can try one of the Function keys on your keypad. Press and hold down the blue Fn key and then select one of the Fx keys along the top, i.e. Fn + F6 or Fn + F9.

You should actually see a blue webcam icon on the key that will turn it on.

Good luck.

thank you, im now looking for confirmation this pc has the built in webcam, many sites are saying it doesnt, can it be downloaded or would i just need to use a seperate webcam? if so what would i do with all the cyberlink youcam programs that came on the pc, i dont want to uninstall/delete anything that is of important use. but if the programs are usless then id rather get rid of them. new to tech and not good at it . thank you

Hi,
I did a search and it looks like your laptop doesn't have a webcam, which is weird if they installed YouCam for you.

You would have to go to a store and buy an external one if you want to use. Then plug it in a USB port.

I have the same computer and same problem. The computer was advertised as having a web cam.... BUT It does not... It have the programs for the web cam but no camera... It took a pc guy looking my computer over from top to bottom for 2 hours.... it had the glass portal and everything but no camera. very disappointed because that is why I bought the computer...
