Scrolling credits and audio

Thanks to Dafydd I was able to "fix" my cross fade problem. However, there are 2 further issues that have arisen that I wonder if anyone else has come across and has been able to find a solution.

First issue. I have created a movie and at the end I have added some scrolling credits with a separate soundtrack. The credits are about 35 seconds. The problem is that when the cursor on the timeline gets to thwe credits (I'm in movie mode not clip) themovie stops for a second - then the soundtrack starts playing for about 6 or 7 seconds (but no scrolling credits) and then the scrolling credits start tp appear (at the correct point). Is there a reason for this sort of temporary freeze in the title scrolling credits??

The seond issue is with Wave editor. I click on a sound track in the timeline and open up Wave editor - which opens up - but then says "Files not imported". There doesn't seem to be any way I can actually get any audio files into Wave editor to edit them. The audio files are OK in PD and I can do some basic editing there - but just can't seem to be able to get Wave editor to work with PD.

Anyone else come across any of these problems??

I'm using the 64 bit version of PD in Windows 7 with an i7 processor and 8 GB RAM Peter Ilyk

1. Open PD
2. expand the tracks
3. look for a gap or space between clips causing the effect you're seeing.
I'm guessing the momentary hang is caused by poor editing of the track and a "void" appearing as a black area. Spreading the track out to frame level will allow you to view all tracks carefully, examining for the gap you've left behind.

a) open Title Designer
b) Look at the slider control.
c) Blue is the display period Orange is the lead in/out
d) keyframe positions govern the allotted display of the title. More than one title can be created and displayed in TD.
e) Titles can be place just like a graphic in any of the 100 tracks. the dominant title is the one in the highest numbered track. Note (f)
f) the Title Track is the dominant track over all others.

Audio question: Too many questions for one post. Raise the item as a new topic and also provide a screenshot of the issue along with perhaps a sample.

Thank you very much for your response. I have tried all you have suggested - no gaps anywhere. It seems to be a problem with the scrolling credit effect. When I reomove the scrolling credit title, everything is fine and the soundtrack plays without a problem.

Rather than having scrolling credit (which I'd prefer), I added a fade in/fade out end title (needed to have 2 to accommodtate the amount of text). When I did this I had no problem. So I went back and tried the scrolling end title again - but the same problem occurs. So I decided to give up on the scrolling credit end title and stick with the fade in/fade out title. At least they work. I also tried doing exactly the same length scrolling credit on Movie Factory Pro X 3 and didn't have a problem. But for some reason, PD just doesn't seem to like the scrolling credits. It is 45 seconds long - so maybe there is a limit on how long the scroll can be. I didn't test it with a shorter scroll - but I may try that and see if plays properly.

Regards

Hi Peter,
If you give me the script, I'll test out the problem and see if I can replicate.

I've PM'd you my email address.

Hi, I am having the exact same problem with PowerDirector 10 as Dafydd was having with PD9.

I have created a movie and at the end I have added some scrolling credits with a separate soundtrack. It is a large dance production, over 3 minutes of credits. The problem is that when the cursor on the timeline gets to the credits in movie mode not clip, the movie stops for around 10 seconds and all I see is a black screen - then the soundtrack starts playing fbut no scrolling credits and then the scrolling credits start to appear.

The company that hired me wants credits at the end but when people see the black screen they will turn off the movie without seeing the credits, assuming the movie is done.

I just purchased PD10 and realy don't want to spend more money and time learning a new editing program....Please Help!!!!!

Thank You,

Peter -

I ran some tests in both PD9 & PD10 to observe the behaviour of scrolling text effects. There was no poor editing, no "void" & nothing that would be likely to cause a momentary pause. Nothing. In fact, there was nothing else in the timeline at that point, except a separate audio clip.

My tests included titles with various durations - 00;00;45;00 - 00;01;00;00 - 00;01;30;00 - 00;02;00;00

As you described, in Preview, a slight pause occurred as the scrubber reached the beginning of the scrolling title. This occurred repeatedly in both PD9 & PD10, with the preview resolution set only to "High" (not HD). With the starting effect set to fade, instead, there was no pause & the preview played smoothly.

I can report that this glitch wasn't present in any of the produced files I made during testing. The scrolling title & audio played smoothly in all cases.

Cheers - Tony
