1. Experimentation seems to indicate that when there are multiple video tracks that are running at the same time on the timeline, the track on the bottom takes precedence. That is, it is the track that will be visible. Is that correct?

2. Why would anyone want to use more than one video track? For instance, why would a person use, say, 5 video tracks. What can be accomplished using 5 tracks that could not be accomplished using one track.

1. Yes this is correct.

2. Overlaying video or effects over the base track(s). Remember the extra video tracks do not have to full frame thus allowing the base video to be viewable behind. A simple example is to place a video clip in track one and another in track two. Click on track two and resize the video using the white "dots". Play back and see. You can end up with very complex PIP effects. Panasonic SD9, Panasonic TM700, Panasonic SD600, GoPro HD Hero.

You may also want to chromakey out a back/fore ground, use multiple camera angles, use masks to produce complex effects, produce TV walls etc.

100 tracks may be maxing out for most folk but 10 tracks can be commonly used - subject to your system being able to handle them if you are using full HD.

Cheers
Adrian

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. (see below)
