PureVideo will work with Powerdvd 7 not sure about version 6.

When high definition content is playing there should be a nvidia icon in the system tray or taskbar can't remember which, click on that to configure.

PureVideo only came out this year...but PowerDVD 6 has been out for more than a year now. However the CyberLink website has a pack supporting nvidia hardware acceleration for the playback of h.264 content.

I have Purevideo, but it does not appear in the system tray when running a file in PowerDVD7.
Purevideo shows up when using Windows Media Player, so I know it's working, but it doesn't seem to work with PowerDVD for me.

Your right it doesn't show up in the tray when playing in PDVD7. Sorry!

Go to configuration > Video tab under Hardware Acceleration -

Enable hardware acceleration [nVidia PureVideo] tick the box it should be working.

I have a hardware acceleration tick box, which I have ticked, but there is no mention of nVidia PureVideo anywhere within the configuration options. Should there be?

I have also wondered about this. I have PowerDVD 7 Deluxe. I did purchase PureVideo from Nvidia also. In the Video Tab in PowerDVD 7, there are the words "Enable Hardware Acceleration (Nvidia PureVideo)" listed which I have checked. When watching a DVD with it, I do not see the PureVideo icon in the System Tray like I do with watching a DVD with Windows Media Player 10. Is it supposed to be there? I mean, how do I know that PowerDVD 7 is actually using it? Another thing. Is PowerDVD 7 required to have PureVideo installed to use it or is it included in PowerDVD 7? I also find it interesting that Cyberlink makes no mention of this PureVideo stuff on their website. (1) Simon I can only go by what is on mine and [nVidia PureVideo] is beside enable hardware acceleration,also on Mike89 so I guess it is supposed to be there.Do you have the deluxe or standard.You may have to upgrade or buy an addon pack if your using the standard model.

(2) Mike89 Sorry about causing this confusion,the nividia icon is in the tray when being used by windows media player.It is NOT in the tray when PDVD7 is being used, and as far as I know, should not be there when PDVD7 is playing.

How do you know if it is working, untick the box is probably the only way.And you will probably only see a difference when playing high definition content.

Is PDVD7 required to have PureVideo ,no.But if you do have H.264 hardware acceleration (purevideo) PDVD will support it (use it).

PureVideo is for playing high definition content,if your playing a standard dvd you will may not see much difference, if any.

Cyberlink say PDVD7 Deluxe "leverage the power of your nVidia or ATI graphics card with support for hardware acceleration" so if your graphics card has hardware acceleration it can use it. Or for high definition playback PureVideo if you have it installed.

All there saying is if you have a graphics card that has the ability to play high definition content then PDVD7 deluxe is compatible with it.

I wrote Cyberlink tech support about this and got a response. They did confirm that the PureVideo icon does not appear in the System Tray while using it in PowerDVD. They also did confirm that you do not have to buy PureVideo to use it in PowerDVD. It is included with PowerDVD 7 (PowerDVD can only use it if your video card supports it).
