I will be updating to Windows 7 64-bit next year with a new system build. Would like to get PowerDirector 9 Ultra64 now and start using on my Windows XP Pro 32-bit system with an NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT card and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ CPU. Will I be able to run the PowerDirector 9 Ultra64 on this system? The requirements do not say WinXP has to be 64-bit.

As Bastian74 has correctly stated, PDR9 will operate OK on Win XP 32 bit, just bare in mind that PDR9 uses considerably more resources than previous versions and you will find that PDR9 will be slow to respond, make sure you have Shadow Edit Files enabled and wait for the green icons to show before trying to edit. Also do not try full HD video (1920x1080) as your current system will not be able to handle the resources required.

Your system should work fine as long as you don't overload it with too many HD video tracks. PD9 supports HD video acceleration and your 9500 GT will do just fine for playback of HD video. I'm also using a 9500 GT and I get low CPU usage when I playback 1920x1080i 24 Mb/s AVCHD video. I get a spike in CPU usage (Q9300) when I turn video acceleration off. While you have an older dual core system, your video card should be able to handle it. Just make sure to update the video card drivers. Q9300 2.5 GHz

I would download the trial and give it a shot. I'm using the Canon HG20. It's about two years old now but I'm very pleased with the image quality. Q9300 2.5 GHz

Thanks James W!
I have a Canon HF10. Plan on setting up a Popcorn Hour media center and running videos from my digitized 8mm films to my HD films through it from my hard drive.
How do you save/edit/use your Canon files? Right now I'm saving everything from the AVCHD folder down (which includes 7 subfolders).

The HG20 records all video and images to an internal 60GB hard drive or a SD flash drive. To get the video into the computer I just copy the desired videos from the camera's hard drive to my computer. In PD I just import the video files or folder from the Edit screen. I don't import every subfolder.

Why do you want a Popcorn Hour? Last year I build my own media center PC. It was built on an AMD HD4200 GPU and a 2.9 GHz AMD Dual core CPU. It has a 500 GB HD, Blueray/DVD drive, HDMI video/audio, SPDIF, an a HD TV tuner. In my opinion a full computer offers more flexibility than a dedicated media device. Q9300 2.5 GHz
