Can you copy and paste a clip from one track to another? I haven't found a way. You have to paste the clip onto the same track, and then you can drag it to another track.

If the clip is in the middle of your stuff, you have to go all the way to a blank area at the end to paste it; otherwise it will split whatever is at the cursor position. Jerry Schwartz

I believe it was determined in beta testing that the way you are doing it is the way it works right now. Not perfect, but still an improvement over version 8. __________________________________

Just a follow up the what Jerry has written and James has confirmed:

The position of the slider dictates the placement of the paste. A editor will need to use Ctrl+V to paste beyond the current track area if a copy is to be obtained and not affect the current tracks.

I hope that made sense.

Sorry, it didn't. Ctrl+V will insert the clip at the position of the slider. There doesn't seem to be any easy way to position the slider at the end of the track, so this is a real nuisance. Jerry Schwartz

Jerry, all you have to do is click anywhere on the timeline where the numbers are at a point past the last clip and the slider will snap to the end of the last clip. After that it is a simple Ctrl+V to paste the clip.

Also if you want to paste in front of a particular clip, just be in clip mode with the clip highlighted and hit stop in the media viewer and the slider will snap to the beginning of that clip and again Ctrl+V will paste the clip.

Hi Jerry,

Try:
PD9 project open
Preview player
Select Movie
Move Preview slider to the right
Slider and the track scrubber are now positioned at the end of the project.
Ctrl+V and the copied clip is now at the very end of your project.

Ah - I didn't think of using the preview slider to control the track scrubber.

It's still awkward, IMNSHO. Jerry Schwartz
