Should preferences be saved with the project?

This might be a matter of taste, but I think certain preferences should be saved with the project: default image duration, transition type, perhaps things like that.

The best implementation would be to have "user preferences," which apply to new projects, and "project preferences" which are stored with an individual project. Jerry Schwartz

I agree, but I suspect that might be very complex, and cause even more issues. I would be satisfied if I could save a preference for EXPORT, so when I switch projects, I don't save my Christmas lights in my bowling folder.

Agreed. One usually does not need to change any of the preferences unless there are major changes in incoming or outgoing file types. Win 10, i7

Here's my reasoning:

A setting like "link all tracks" will always return to the "user" preferences. If you are working on more than one project, you can get an awkward suprise if you switch between them.

Many programs, such as office productivity stuff, save many settings with each document. It seems like the polite way to do things.

It should actually be a fairly easy thing to code. Jerry Schwartz
