Audio Sync Issue

I recently downloaded the trial version of PowerDirector 9 to edit a DVD. During the editing process I noticed that the audio sync get's off by about 1-3 seconds. I am working with imported VOB files from a regular DVD and the sound is fine when I watch the VOB files on my computer, but gets off sync in PowerDirector 9. I had this problem with MPEG Video Wizard DVD as well and that's the main reason I am looking at PowerDirector 9. Is this a common problem among video editing software? What's the problem?

Without more details of your system and a sample file to test it will be very hard for an editor to replicate or confirm. Please you can provide an example for us?
Please see the 3 basics below and provide - thanks.

I have a similar issue that appears to be a result of the conversion from Power Director 9 to the Wave Editor.

I am trying your product out. Power Director 9.0
I imported a segment from a DVD I made of a previous concert. I then selected the audio portion to edit in the Wave Editor. The segment in Power Director is 23,20.25 but the exported audio is only 23,19.774 I am never able to get the edited audio to sync back the video. It seems that the the audio has been compressed by a half second during the conversion to the audio editor. Is there an option to "stretch" the audio out a little. I have seen this feature in other packages. The "Change Speed" option in the Wave Editor is too crude to accomplish this task.

Thanks

After you have the audio clip back in the PD9 timeline, you use power tools in PD9 on the audio and you can extend by the fixed ratio, or simply type in a new time to marginally extend.

I'm a newbie with sort of the same issue. I've imported DVD video of my daughter singing...and it looks great in preview. I added reverb in Wave Editor and reintroduced it into the timeframe. Now her mouth and voice are off by about 1/2 second. I tried to resize the audio, but it does not seem to do anything to bring it back into sync.

Could I be missing something else? Thanks!

someone recently stated in the forum here the best way to work with VOB files is to put it in the timeline and convert it to a MPEG-2 file.I wonder if doing this would take care of the sync problem when working with vob files as I have also experienced......

Billy's info is correct.

Re the out of sync.
In PD9 you can disable a track - use the ability it has to your advantage.
Buhk.
Bring the video in with the audio still in sync.

Bring the WE audio in

Now use the two wave forms to sync the edited Wave Editor audio to the insitu video/audio.

After you've carried out the task you click on the "eye" icon which will change to a red cross and disable the track.

Does that help?

Please note, I have written this info from memory (so hopefully it's correct). No screenshot was supplied with any post here and that would have provided much more information to those who could have answered this thread. Please ensure the THREE BASICS are provided with an enquiry.
