This one is kind of odd. I completed a 48 min DVD in MPEG2 format. Looked stunningly good on my analog TV. Had a second copy (made at the same time as the one I viewed), gave it to a friend who has a new digital TV. We watched it together. At the beginning all was well. About 15 minutes into the video, a few small artifacts popped up randomly on the screen. Nothing serious so I thought maybe the disc had a flaw. The final 10 minutes was constant random artifacts and skipping ahead. At the end the skipping was so pronounced the closing credits literally jumped across the screen.

So is MPEG2 not compatible with digital hi res tv sets? When I burned the discs I had selected the smaller display size for my own TV. I don't think there are options for MPEG2 to change the display size to match digital TV sets. What should I have done different?

Sounds like the player was having trouble decoding the DVD. Standard DVD's are 720x480. It should play fine on digital TV's unless it is an older player, and even then it should be Ok. If you can plug a laptop into it, try playing it with that and see how it looks. __________________________________
