[solved] PyPathChecker problem whilst installing PowerDVD 9 Ultra

Hello,

I recently did a fresh install of my OS, and am now needing to reinstall my PowerDVD 10 Ultra software. I got a reply from one of the tech guys, and they told me to download and install PowerDVD 9 Ultra first, followed by the download and installation of PowerDVD 10 Ultra (they supplied the links for these!).

The problem however is that I get an error message saying when it comes to installation. This message says:

Unhandled exception
Error number: 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load DLL: PyPathChecker

Setup will now terminate

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
I have looked on google and PyPathChecker issues seem to be related to a corrupt registry that needs to be fixed with a registry software. I downloaded Registry Mechanic with the attempt to do this, however it seems to have made no difference.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I miss watching Blu-Rays!

Hello Micheal

I have checked a number of times, but so far nothing has worked. It's also been a few weeks sinch this problem started so its been quite a while since I last saw Blu-Ray!

I have read your forums, and no one else has had this problem. I am just reporting the issue here as I would like the knowledge to be viewed/shared with others.

Regards
Jagmit

I just got the exact same error, on a clean Win7-64 build, during the powerdvd9ultra clean-install step using the download links provided by the customer support team. I am chasing up and will post any progress.

Thanks for investigating.

In fact, I solved the problem for myself, after trial and error, by installing the free download trial of PowerDVD10 before beginning the re-installation process you sent me. The steps were:

1. On a clean Win7-64/GTS450 install, download and install the PowerDVD10 free-trial.
2. Install your supplied PowerDVD9 full install.
3. Upgrade from 9 to 10 using your supplied PowerDVDE10 upgrade.
4. Upgrade this PowerDVD10 installation using the normal support page on your website.
5. Remove the trial copy of 10.

This may be useful for others. Also, in case it helps, the PowerDVD9 install you sent me works fine on an XP box. I only saw the error msg on Win7-64.

Thanks again for coming back with feedback.

I have the exact same problem, i got PowerDVD 9 Ultra from the support and tried to install (Windows 7 64bit) but the installation stops with the above error. I just have the powerDVD 9 ultra license no powerDVD 10.
What can i do?

Hi,

please download the dll from internet and copy to C:\Windows\SysWoW64\
Here is url from DLL-files.com for your reference.

Try installing the free powerdvd10 trial off the website -just install it, no need to use it - then run the powerdvd9 installer the customer support team sent you. It worked for me.

Afterwards, you can de-install the powerdvd10 trial leaving powerdvd9 in place.

I had the same problem after reinstalling Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit and found this thread through search.
Copying the two .dll files into the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ directory worked. Thanks, Michael. :-)
