KenR,

Not going to be any help here, but I use IE8. The only browser installed. I have no problems using the forum.

Hi Ken,

The only problem I experienced with IE8 was when writing a response or starting a topic. As the message gets longer as you type, it starts to skip around in the box you are writing in. Sort of jumping around and you can't see what you are writing. I don't know if this is what you are referring to, but by using any other browser that problem went away for me.

A complete reset of IE8 will cure most of the problems in IE8.

Tools > Internet Options. Advanced Tab. Reset Internet Explorer settings, click the Reset Button.

I do know that subject is a little bit off topic for this forum.

Thanks Carl, there's actually two options Restore the Advanced Functions and Reset. I'll try the first and see if that does it.

Yes its off topic, but couldn't find a Forum for the Forum. Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Yes, there are two resets in IE8, the first is on the security tab and resets the security back to the defaults.

The one I mentioned is the overall reset, and puts IE back to the original state when you first install IE8.

That means that you will have re-answer the questions about the default search, and the warning about sending data on the Internet.

Hi KenR,
Can you give more details of your IE8 problem with the forum? The forum is powered by JForum 2.1.8 and its a full JAVA program. Just in the case that you can’t use IE8 at all, you must have an JAVA issue with IE8.( http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Install-Java-in-Internet-Explorer )

By the way, does anybody knows where to post Forum related topics? becouse this is a PD8 forum area. Cheers

RobertJ,

I downloaded and use most of the time "Google Chrome"....and for the most part it seems better. It does not have the same jumping around in the text box as I write and it also has "spell check" which is useful. The only thing I don't like about it....it saves my passwords and user names to sites like this one...but it doesn't sign me in as efficiently as IE8. It requires more mouse clicks to get into the forums. I am still experimenting...or blindly trying to know what to use!! hahahaha!

Firefox...Never tried it..

Interesting??? Frustrating??

EDIT: I think this is a very appropriate subject in the forum...being able to communicate using a browser is very important. I certainly am not an expert....I rely on you guys to point the way!!

Regards,

Kevin

Kevin,
Long time ago you can remember that the jumping text in the FORUM MAIN TEXBOX ISSUE was our first conversation in this forum (apart of the ferry). I’m using the same IE8 but today I don’t have the issue any more. How I solved? I don’t know, the only difference is that from those days I have made a lot windows and IE8 updates and have been fixed.

Robert,
I also have Firefox and never get the jumping issue.
Cheers
