Combining After Cut

I'm certain that this topic has been beaten to death but I have searched the index and can't find the exact answer I need. I have just retired and am trying to Use PD8 to edit old clips. I move to where I want to do the first cut and hit "split". I move to the end of the desired cut and hit "split" again. I highlight the section that I want to cut (between splits) and hit remove. I then try to combine the two remaining clips by highlighting both but when I right click, combine is grayed out. Tech support was no help. I tried playing the clip but when it gets to the removed section, it snaps back to the beginning of the clip.

Any help would be appreciated, it's driving me nuts.

You can only combine where the split was made. If a section has been removed, you can no longer combine them. __________________________________

You may be experiencing, the Clip vs Movie setting under the preview Window. It likes to switch back to Clip mode all the time, which only plays what you have selected, which may be just the effect or a single clip. If you want to see it play through both splits, click on Movie, hit play. Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

So what is the best way to get rid of unwanted sections of a clip?

Frenchman,

If you mean how do you make a whole continuous video after you have split and removed sections of the video.

It is not done on the timeline.

When you have completed all of your edits, you click on the Produce Module, and produce the project to the final video. You have several choices of the type of file you can create depending on your use of the final output.

Or if you want to make a DVD, you click on the Create Disk Module.

The way I do it is to just right click the unwanted section and select Remove.

You can also select the unwanted section and hit the delete key on your keyboard. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn
