Problems with Robin Hood (Robin des Bois) French and PowerDVD
[Post New]
Hello,

I'm the happy owner of PowerDvD 10, and I'm very satisfied of the software until yesterday.

The Robin Hood French Blu-Ray seems to have a problem with PowerDvD.

What happens is that if I simply try to read the disc, I end in an endless loop of "BD-Live" movie preview trailers. I waited 30+ minutes, it never ends. And if I try to press any button to bypass it, or to go to the menu, I end with a black screen. Note that this is the ONLY Blu-Ray disc I have a problem with, all others work flawlessly. My computer passes the BD advisor test entirely (everything is BD ready).
Now I still managed to make it work, but I had to disable BD-Live using a third party software. Then the disc works just fine, I can access the menu and watch the movie normally.

Any clue why this happens?

Thanks.

Hi,

there is a known issue with this specific title - all related partners are working to relase a solution for this issue asap.

The patch will need you to be online while starting the playback of the title as it will download some content from the internet

thanks for your patience

Thanks Michael - I guess until it's fixed, I just have to wait and disable BD-Live. My collection: http://www.blu-ray.com/community/collection.php?u=194008&action=showcategory&category=1&categoryid=7

Hi Michael

I have the same problem as I have just bought this on blu-ray and discovered it wouldn't work. Are we any nearer to getting a fix for this? Any idea how long it will be?

I am using 'PowerDVD 7 - BD Edition' which came with my Sony BD-ROM drive.

Will this version also be getting the update?

If you want a temporary fix, Reaktor, get yourself "Anydvd HD" (I think there's a trial version) and use it to disable BD Live.

EDIT:
Yes, there is a 21 days Trial: http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html

PS: it's also possible your version of PowerDVD is way too old for such a new title. I'm using PowerDVD 10 Ultra.

Thanks for the link. I will give it a try out later on tonight.

Does it disable the BD-Live of PowerDVD? Why doesn't PowerDVD give you that option??

I own about 30 blu-ray movies and they all work perfectly fine apart from this one.

Hallo,

Please see temprary workaround for playback issue on BD Live Blu-ray discs.
Please be informed that this will delete all downloaded BD content and all login data stored:

1. Click UI button “Configure PowerDVD Settings” (Or hotkey Ctrl-C)
2. The path of Local Storage is at “Blu-ray Disc > Advanced > BD-Live > Location”
3. Copy & Paste the path to Windows File Explorer. You will see 3 folders: APDA, BPSA, and BUDA.
4. Delete all 3 folders to clear local storage.
5. Disconnect the internet. So it will not check available update from the remote server.
6. Launch PowerDVD and playback the title.

Hi,

good to hear that the fix worked on your side

from my testnig the issue should be solved now completely - so you can connect to the internet and watch the BD without deleting some folders. kindly check

That's strange. So there is no need to update the software? Its great that it finally works but what was the problem exactly??

It most likely came from the BD Live website of Universal. My collection: http://www.blu-ray.com/community/collection.php?u=194008&action=showcategory&category=1&categoryid=7

hello,
One year later, I'm unable to read this blu-ray too.
I use PDVD10 ultra and I'm on win 7 x64 with a GTX570 GFx card with a two screen setup and sound blaster audigy 2 ZS audio card.

When I try to play the blu-ray, PDVD load it then simply display a black screen.
If I try to use anyDVDHD and disable bd live, I got the universal logo video but the black screen is displayed again just after that.
I also tried CyberLink-Michael's method but without any result.

I updated my BD drive firmware, and windows is up to date. I use nvidia 270 drivers, I don't use 275 and 280 ones because they are incompatible with some of my major software.
I downloaded arcsoft media theater 5 trial and this software play the blu-ray correctly, so I think this is a bug with PDVD10.

Is anyone have any idea to makes it works?

I have no problems viewing it with the latest Power DVD 10. The problem is gone for me, I just answer this because I received a reply notification for this topic. My collection: http://www.blu-ray.com/community/collection.php?u=194008&action=showcategory&category=1&categoryid=7
