PiP question

Hiya Everybodies!,
I know there was an e-mail notice or a post I've read about this but I can no longer find it. What I would like to do is make my PiP be the shape of an object, in this case to look like a balloon, but have the PiP video playing inside the shape as it passes through the key points. I've tried looking in the PiP objects and particle rooms, but do not see this option. I'm including a picture that will show the motion desired as well.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and I'll send you picture of my pet rattle snake for free. Just include an active e-mail or PM me.

Here is a video that explains motion paths. You will also need a custom mask. I'm sure there must be a way to make one, but I don't know off the top of my head.

In the PiP designer, apply the mask. Then, pick a motion path and adjust it to your needs with key frames as in the video. The video should follow the mask and give you the effect you are looking for. I hope that helps a little. __________________________________

Hey Jamie,
I've seen that video tutorial but it is not exactly what I'm looking for. In the PiP room there is a red balloon that floats upwards. I would like to place the smaller video inside the balloon shape and plot the course as needed. I hope this is a little better explanation of what I am attempting.
Thanks for the reply none the less.

Hi Kevin & Jaimesque -

Masks are stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDirector\Masks

How they're made and named is important. In the folder (above), there are 2 files for each mask... the actual mask, called (say) "43.png" & the thumbnail (the bit we see in the mask library) called "43Thumb.png".

The steps to make a custom mask are:

1. Open a new document in Paint.NET - or PhotoShop or whatever you're using.
2. Draw a black and white image... the black being the bit that masks the image & the white being the bit you'll see through.
3. Make the black section transparent

4. Resize it if necessary to 720x540
5. Save it as a .png file, using the naming protocol above (eg. xx.png)
6. Save as "xxThumb.png" - then resize that to 80x60

7. Both these files need to be placed in C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDirector\Masks so the mask is available in PiP Designer

Hope that helps - Tony

P.S. a six second vid...

YNOT,
That is exactly the effect I want. I've just d/l'd paint.net and am going to try to create the .png. If I have troubles can I ask you about it, or is that for another forum some other place?
Thanks a lot!

Just post any questions back here and someone will find it. There is a motion path in the PiP designer that should be just what you are looking for. __________________________________

Another quick question is how do you attach a photo in a reply or a post here?

Hi Kevin -

Thanks for the shot of the rattlesnake.

If you'd like to actually display the picture on the forum page, the Cap'n has made a little toot to show how it's done...

If you just want to attach something, here's how...

Couldn't agree with you more about the forum folk.

Cheers - Tony

The first few seconds looked good. My download kept stalling, so that's all I saw. __________________________________

Just for the record.

To attach a file all you need do is select "post reply" icon button.
In the form which appears select "attachment" and then browse for the file on your PC.

After showing Tony how to display files he has used it quite a lot for his files which are not hosted on the forum. The same action can be used to display an attachment and the image will display here.
Select the img button enter the image location url and then select img again to close the script. the same script can be entered manually.

Note: image frame size which exceeds the size of the forum boundaries will be removed (or just have the link etc).

Dafydd
