I don't know about templates, but you can make custom slide shows in PD8

You can look on the Director's Zone for some slide shows or templates.

Glad you're enjoying your first experiences with PD. The instant slideshows do allow you to easily produce a good looking piece of video.

You might be interested in checking out PDtoots - there are some tutorials there designed just for less experienced PD users.

Some of the slideshow templates are customisable... Cell, Motion, Highlight. The rest are just as they are. There'd be a lot of work in making your own template, and I don't know of any that are available. As Carl said, you can always just build your own slideshow from scratch... or combine these with template based shows.

I had a look at modifying the templates of 3D slideshows ( and I didn't know that you could). I get lost after "Here's where we swap the .PNG files" after I copy & pasted the 3D file to the desktop.

Can you explain this step by step to me - I don't quiet understand what you mean!!

Hi Pam!

Firstly, it's important to understand that swapping the .png files is probably NOT CyberLink's intention!

OK - the 3D slideshow folder has a pile of things in it including .xml documents (instructions) and .png files (pictures). In order to modify the look of the template, the pictures (.png) can be swapped... but leaving the instructions (everything else) where they are.

The .png files in the 3D folder include (a) a background & (b) some frames. Swapping these for other images gives us (more or less) the same template with a different look.

So - if you don't don't want gold frames on a gold background & you'd prefer wooden frames on a desert background, you can create the images (background and frames) you want and swap them.

There's one .png file that's called "ocean_alpha_light". It should be left there - it gives the light changing effect.

Does that do it? I'd only suggest messing with this if you feel confident about it. That why it's suggestd to make a copy of the whole folder first, so you're not mucking around with the original.

If you join SeemyWorld, I have created a number of 3D templates just for this purpose. The original golden arches might be nice for some things, but not your camping trip or island vacation. They will self-install to Windows, but not 7x64. Not sure about 7x32.
Themes are nautical, wedding, birthdays, tropical, Halloween, Christmas, etc.
Everyone should get them, but it is also fairly easy to make your own, as Tony's toot shows.
Using just the correct images is important, you do not want the frame to detract from the photo within. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
