Hi folks,
I created a video in which all the video portions were of a 640x480 size. Everything looked great, so I produced it. After production, the size was much smaller. Once it was uploaded to FaceBook, the video was tiny and of poor quality.
My question is..... How to you maintain a video size, or change the size of final video?

Hi Kevin,

Do answers actually have to be precise? But I would prefer another bactch of the Chicken Gizzard Cookies.

Ok so your source files you were working with were 640x360 resolution.

When you went to Produce your final video...did you produce it to a file? If so...which file type did you select? And some of the File types have various Profiles in which to choose from that effect both size and quality once produced.

Or did you select the Facebook uploading function within Power Director? If so, which profile did you select?

Sorry that I answered your question with more questions, but the information would be important if we would try to replicate your problem.

I am shooting for some cookies!!

Regards,

Kevin

Hey Capt. Kevin,
The source files were 640x480 actually, except for some jpeg tossed into the PiP.
For the sake of space and file size I chose WMV file extension during production. I also saved it as an AVI file, but it came out at around 700 MB for a 3 minute video as opposed to around 6 MB for the WMV file. Saving the world, one goofy video and meme at a time.

I am used to most projects around this size being in the 15-20 MB range using Brand X[code]™ Saving the world, one goofy video and meme at a time.

Hey Kevin,

So you selected the wmv file type.....in the profile drop-down list there a many to choose from?

I created a profile that I have attached to my post:

It will be used to create a wmv file with a 640x480 resolution at a 4000Kbps bit rate. Click on it and save it to this folder location:
C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector\Language\Enu\Profiles

Make sure you close Power Director....Now reopen Power Director...open your project....go to the PRODUCE tab ....select the FILE tab....select the WMV file type....and you should now find a profile labeled "Window Media Video 9 Kevin 640x480".

Produce your video to this profile. It should now be produced at 640x480 with a 4,000Kbps bit rate. If you feel the quality is not up to snuff, let me know and I can bump up the bit rate to a higher value and then attach another profile. I am not sure what the resulting file size will be with your project. If the file is too big, I can also change the bit rate to a smaller value. You just have to let me know what happens.

Let me know if this works for you. I have never attached a prx profile file before in the forum. But it should work if you place it in the folder that I pointed out.

Cross your fingers....this is a first. I did test it and it worked for me.

Regards,

Kevin

Very odd, It's not allowing me to save there. I went to System and Security and turned off the auto protection, which I thought would allow me temp access to that file to be able to save it. Is there another trick I'm not remembering here? Saving the world, one goofy video and meme at a time.

It still came out 208x160. Could the jpeg sizes have anything to do with that? I would think there would be an option for the output size somewhere, but I've not been able to locate it.

I guess the other option is another file type, but that creates a MUCH larger file (700MB) file that takes hours to upload. Saving the world, one goofy video and meme at a time.

Hi Kevin,

Just got back home.

That's a little bit confusing to me...how producing to a profile that is set to 640x480 would result in a 208x160 video file. I am stumped for now. Maybe others will have some ideas as to what is going on with your project.

I was sooo looking forward to some Chicken Gizzard Cookies too!

Hang in there....I am sure it will be figured out.

Kevin

But just to confirm with you Kevin....
When you went to select the PROFILE under the WMV file type.....you saw the one labeled with your name in Power Director, "Window Media Video 9 Kevin 640x480"? That will confirm for me that it was put in the right place and was imported by Power Director when you opened it.

OK, that's a double Dee Dee Dee for me today. I erred by not selection that from the pull down menu. I just discovered that part as well.
Giving it another run Capt.

You the Man Kevin,
That produced the file in those dimensions, it's also a more manageable size for uploading to sights I'd believe. The only thing left now is to see what quality I end up with.
You are gonna wind up with a whole case of cookies.
Thank you for all your help! Saving the world, one goofy video and meme at a time.
