PowerDirector issue, video has pauses and unsmooth playback after export rendered file HELP!

Been having problems when using VOB. files, never had this issue before. Everytime I import a short vob. file to test, then I would then hit produce, pick mpeg2 output, then I select the HQ prest. Then I hit render, after the output render, I close the program, then I play it back in WM Player. Before the render output to Mpeg2, the VOB. file plays fine and smooth in Power Director. So when I play back the mpeg2 file, the video has short pauses or unsmooth playback. Tried other file types and are not affected. I even uninstalled the whole suite and reinstalled. Still, same result. I need help.

my specs are:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit
Intel core 2 Duo 2.27 GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650
4 GB Ram

Thinking about about getting another video editor program if I can't figure this out, like Roxio Creator 2010.

Andrew,
I'm using the latest PowerDirector and editing HD files. I see you have an older version PowerDirector and have what's now considered a lower spec editing unit.

You are also running a 32bit designed program on a 64bit set up.

I'm guessing you have PD7 but you haven't mentioned what version or build you have - important information. IF you have the full version please ensure you have applied the latest patch: http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powerdirector/patches_en_US.html

I see you're converting a vob file - the source is from where?
Has it been rendered to a 25 or 29.97 frame rate? I'm wondering if a 25fps has been rendered to a 29.97 frame rate.

More information is required.

I'd also ask you to clean up your system, I have used CCleaner.

Dafydd

Hi,

My version of PD7 is 7.0.2611, not sure if if I have the full version though. It originally came pre-installed on my computer, then downloaded upgrade ver. 7. The vob file was ripped off a dvd, using dvd shrink and the frame is 29.97. And the project is sat at 29.97 also.

I cleaned my system using ccCleaner like you suggested, it cleaned lots of gunk files. Then I opned PD7 and did a test render a couple of times, same result.

Hi Andrew,
RE: The vob file was ripped off a dvd, using dvd shrink

I think you need to look at what DVD shrink is doing to the video. Use a software called MediaInfo and examine the frame size of the file. I think the problem lies with the source material and how it is rendered. Try other formats - wmv and see what that plays like.

You also need to follow the link I previously provided and update your version.

Updates: This update file updates PowerDirector 7 to PowerDirector 7 build 3017. For PowerDirector retail and online purchase versions only.

I checked with MediaInfo and it turns dvd shrink was changing framerate to 23.97fps not 29.97fps. Dvd Shrink only makes ISO Images and Vob. The only source that can be put into dvd shrink is dvd's. I did another test using another vob clip, opened PD7, rendered in mpeg2, same thing. But when i rendered in wmv, it played really smooth.

I then used mediaInfo, the wmv file has same framerate as the vob. file. I prefer to use mpeg2 to render in PowerDirector, because it has sharper picture than wmv, which is a little softer.

I used DVDShrink on my old computer and never had a problem with it, 29.97fps was used, not 23.97fps, I'm guessing its not stable on win7 or the program doesn't work well on win7 even though it runs fine. It is an older program, but it is said that it will run on win7.
