Mic won't record on track

Audio Director 12 I believe i have...I downloaded it yesterday. I have a focusrite Clarett 4Pre. When I go into the drop down menu the mic is there and i can select it and I can hear it in my head phones and if I play something prerecorded on the track I can hear that in my headphones so I feel like all the parts are working but when I try to record nothing happens. I messed with every setting and I am having no luck at all.
