I want to install PowerDirector on my D drive which is an external usb drive. When I go into application manager and try to set the install path to this drive I get:

"Specified folder is invalid, incomplete or write protected"

I've installed other software on D and have to because of limited space on my C drive. Does PowerDirector require installation on C?

You can install PD and its content packs on any drive, but Windows knows that your external USB drive is removeable and it looks like the App Manager won't allow you to install anything there.

You can try changing the settings so that the USB drive appears as non-removable (fixed) drive. This article explains one way to do that.
