After making a jump cut, audio is overlapping but only when processed to YT

New user here.

Just downloaded Powerdirector 21 last night, so maybe I'm missing something obvious.

I had a long clip with a stutter and pause that I tried to cut out. I cut around the clip, deleted it, told it to close the gap. It played fine on the timeline.

I then Produced directly to YouTube, but at the jump cut section the video cuts perfectly, but the audio acts like I overlaid the original audio with the jump cut audio, producing an "echo" effect.

I tried cutting it from scratch twice, each time it was fine pre-production and even after Preview Rendering, but caused issues when Produced to YouTube.

I ran out of time to try again, but my next try will involve separating the cut sections to different lines to see if that helps.

Original clip is from an Android phone.

Any ideas why I'm having this issue?

Most phone footage is highly variable frame and/or bitrate and PD often does not work well with that footage. Lots of issues common with your observations. What I would do is convert original Android video with HandBrake to a high-quality format with constant framerate and use that in PD for editing. An extra step but often cures tons of editing and producing frustrations.

I tried it a few more times and got it to work. I think the only thing I did different was not have the clip "highlighed" when I made my cuts.

I'll try editing some other footage I have and see how that comes out.

Glad you got something that worked for you. I've not seen the "highlight" or not be a player but I have seen it to be very dependent on exact cut location. I've seen instances that moving the cut a few frames and the issue won't appear. That's what makes the editing frustrating.
