Hi,
I have created a backgound I wish to use for Title mneu and Disc Menu. I created the file in Xara Xtrem (a vector drawing program). The image looks nice and crisp when previewed both as vector and when exported to jpg. but when I bring it into Drector Deluxe 8 and preview it is fuzzy?( not crisp).
The image is created at 1280X720pix @96dpi.
Any suggestions
Here is the image
Thanks
James

I have downloaded the image which isn't 1280x720 it's 1271x715.

I have placed it in video track and then later in Titles. I don't see any initial difference between the two.

The fonts used could do with being larger and the borders enlarged to highlight the text. Use of text in an image is a problem - I try and avoid using it and rely more on the Titling capability in placing multiple styles and variable displayed text.

Sorry to point this out - you could do with an apostrophe in Dad's Videos.

What is the graphic card on your system? What is the display setting selected in PD's preview? I have mine set to the highest.

I don't think I've been much help to you, sorry.
Dafydd

Thanks for the reply.
My system is has a geforce 220 1GB memory, and I have 4GB system memory. I have the quality set to highest. I set crop to fit in some instances.
If I bring the image into Corel PhotoPaint X3 and create a video using the image as background and save as AVI then preview AVI file everything is crisp and clear..it just gets 'blurry' whn incorporated into Director.
Thank for the info' you gave I know there is a few mistakes on image but I am trying to get it crisper in preview.

Upon graduation from the University, my first job, my first boss told me the following: “keep the stupid things simple, start from the first must stupid thing you can think”.. like see if the power plug is pluged or the fuse is burned.

Preview Window
While creating your video production, preview your production in the preview window using the available playback controls. Click the Clip button to play back the clip that is selected in the timeline, or Movie to play the entire video production. You can also control the quality of the previewed video (as well as take a photo snapshot of the current frame of video) by selecting and then the preview resolution from the list.

Your Image its perfect. Do you experimenting to procude or burn to see if if your image is ok?

Hi Nicolas,
Yes basically that is what I am doing..I have only had the program 4 days, and am trying the different segmanets of the Driector 8 Deluxe. I am only using small Videos to have something to work with.
I created the Background and go though the various stages and burn to DVD RW to test on my DVD player. That is when I noticed the Blurred backgound.

Hi James

You could try and save the image as a different format eg. PNG, TIFF.

I find using the PNG format works better than JPEG.

Happing editing

Best Regards

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
I changed the original image and set all my color profiles to none when exporting. Changed the aspect ratio and it seems to be nice now.
JimM

Vector Images Problem

I have used illustrator to make a background for placing my video, text, etc. and for some reason my vector image keeps coming out blurry. I'm not sure why. I've tried .jpeg (progessive), .png, .bmp, at all different sizes and the video comes out blurry. I've only rendered it once in .avi but everytime I place the image created in illustrator in the timeline it loses it quality. I have the preview set to highest quality and it just look blurry. I can't incorporate any company logos done from illustrator because they look blurry.

demo of what I mean, can you tell that the colors (yellows and blues) are blurry but the image on the video is cleaner.(view in full screen please)
