Hi,
I very like all clips PDtoots's Channel in Youtube and find them to be very educative. Thanks to Creators!

Only one question - how to do those letters at the beginning (example PDtoots in red in here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG1jQUvt1HI)?!

Hi Hiieland

I'm not quite sure exactly how they were done BUT if I was to attempt it there are a couple of ways.

1. Using the PIP tracks import colour boards into these and then use the text on each board

OR

2. Create the boards in a image editor like Paint.net or Paintshop Pro and import these images to the PIP tracks.

Good luck Happing editing

Best Regards

Neil

Hi Hiielind,

Thanks for checking out our PDtoots Channel on Youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/user/PDtoots

Yes, Neil was on the right track.
The PDtoots logo was created in PD8’s Title Designer room, using the “Xerography” font and applying the orange and red colors (in a gradient), on a custom 1280x720 white color board.
The Xerography font can be downloaded here (as well as from many other font sites).
http://www.dafont.com/xerography.font

Then a snapshot of the orange/red logo text was made using the Snapshot tool in PD8, and the snapshot was imported into the “Paint.net” program.
(Note: Paint.net is a pseudo Photo Shop type image editing program, which is free)
http://download.cnet.com/Paint-NET/3000-2192_4-10338146.html

In Paint.net, I made some minor adjustments to the logo, and created the shadowing, and then placed it all on a transparent background, and saved as a .png image file.
The word “Tutorials” was also created as text in Paint.net (for convenience), using black letters on a white 1280x720 background), which was saved as a separate image file.

Then the above elements (and a custom 1280x720 B&W color board), were imported into a new PD8 project and placed in the PIP tracks, where...
- Motion paths were applied using PIP Designer.
- Chroma Key was used on the black “Tutorials” text.
- The Fireworks Particle Effect (with modified color and path), was placed in a PIP track under the chroma keyed (black) “Tutorials” text, so the particle effect would show through the text and appear only “in” that Tutorials text/word.

And finally the "channel address text" at the bottom, was created in PD8’s Title Designer, using the “Flip” Animation Properties setting.

Basically, it was just a bit of layering of things using the Master, PIP, and Text tracks. The Paint.net step could have be skipped, but having the option to tweak images and graphics and create .png files with transparent backgrounds, just seems to make it easier to compile, construct, and animate such elements or graphics in PD8.

Neil,

Yeah, it's funny. Written procedures for PD, look so much more daunting in print than they really are.
Or maybe it's just the way I write. Click here PDtoots for a collection of PowerDirector Tutorials and Tips
