1. Do you have to keep the aspect ratio the same as what the original footage was shot at? I noticed while watching the playback of the DVD I made, that there are still the black empty space on the left and right side of my widescreen computer monitor.

2. I am very confused about the audio settings in the Produce mode. I select the Mpeg2 selection, but I notice it gives me an option to check Dolby Digital 5.1.....does this convert the audio from the movie into 5.1?
What is the difference between this and selecting the CLVS? I don't even understand what this is...am I converting the stereo/mono audio from the original footage to a simulated surround environment?

3. Is there a way when creating a DVD, that you can have the menu play a full length song? Instead I notice it's only playing about 10 seconds of the song I selected then starting over. Thanks.

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum.

1. No, you do not have to keep the same aspect ratio. Before you do anything make sure the project aspect ratio set set correctly. The default is 16:9. If you predominantly have 16:9 video then I would leave this alone. If you have mostly 4:3 video then I would change the aspect ratio to 4:3 provided you want to produce a video at 4:3. If you have mostly 16:9 and a few 4:3 clips then I would keep the aspect ratio at 16:9. When you want to add a 4:3 video to the video tract you can right click and adjust the aspect ratio for that particular clip. You will have the option to stretch or crop the video to fit your 16:9 window. If you leave it at 4:3 then you will get the black bars along the left and and right sides.

2. CLVS will create a simulated surround environment. I can't say much about the Dolby Digital option.

3. There is a way to change the audio menu properties and duration. Click create disk and music note with the plus sign located near the bottom right. After selecting your desired music track use the orange markers to set you start and end points. PD will update the total duration. Q9300 2.5 GHz

I tried messing with that screen you talked about. Though it allows me to use slider to select a particular part of a song I want, I can't find a way to change the duration of the music on the main DVD menu page...it just keeps starting over after 10 seconds or so.
