.MKV subtitles in PowerDVD 10. Is this how they should look?

Look at the images below.
Is this how the subtitles should look (The powerdvd image is from playing an integrated .ass subtitle, .srt looks the same)?

Compare that with the ones below (MPC classic w/DirectVobSub 2.39).

MediaPlayer Classic with .ASS subtitles

MediaPlayer Classic with .SRT subtitles

If not, any suggestions to how to fix them?

Note, the images are from roughly the same position in the same video.

Click the displayed image, (at imageshack) to display the real size (the PDVD10 doesn't look nice at all compared to anything).

For some reason the .ass support isn't particulary good (.ass format, integrated in a .mkv file)..
it seems pdvd doesn't support many of the tags used, and instead displays them.

PowerDVD has a lot of issues in the subtitles department that need to be addressed and solved.
