I just downloaded and installed the trial version to see if PowerDVD is right for us.

We copied one of our Blu Ray movies (Fantastic Four) to the hard drive cause we want to start watching our movies from there. So I opened the file with PowerDVD and it starts, but there is NO Sound and a few seconds in, it starts to freeze and glitch, then seems to speed up and freeze, then it plays some sound, then just freezes and stops.

I can play the movie file just fine in Media Player, but it does not play the DTS sound.

What am I doing wrong with PowerDVD?

I just purchased a New HP Slimline with Windows 7, 64bit. So there's not much on it.

Any help would be Greatly Appreciated!!

Just how did you copy the move to the hard drive? If the process of copying actually change the encoding of the movie than all bets are off becausing the encoding process could be suspect. I don't think Media Player has built-in support for playing Blu-ray movie so you probably re-encoded it to something like H.264 but left the sound in DTS which Media Player cannot play.

DearDavid,

first of all copying AACS protected BD to HDD is not legal.

PowerDVD does not support playback of BD from HDD

Hi David,

The place to begin is: Can you play the Fantasic Four blu-ray disc, itself? Does it play correctly with the PowerDVD 10 Ultra demo? If it does, then the problem is probably with the method you used to copy the movie from blu-ray to your hard drive. If the PowerDVD 10 demo cannot play the blu-ray disc, itself, then you need to resolve that issue first.

I had trouble playing one of my new blu-ray discs (a fully licensed commercial disc) with PowerDVD 10 Ultra and the only way I could get it to work was to use SlySoft's AnyDVD HD software to bypass the blu-ray security.

If that doesn't work, then give ArcSoft's TotalMedia Theatre 3 Platinum software a test. Another member here who had trouble with PowerDVD 10 Ultra found that TotalMedia Theatre solved his problems.

Kind regards, David
