Keyboard short-cuts do not work for Blu-ray playback

Hi. I have PowerDVD7 Ultra, and I have tried PowerDVD8 Ultra, and PowerDVD9 Ultra, and I still can't understand why short-cuts do not work for Blu-ray playback. I can use the mouse, of course, but the short-cut keys for the buttons do not work. For instance, ctrl-P does not activate the pop-up menu, space bar does not pause the playback, etc.. Is the software on the Blu-ray disk taking control of the keyboard? Why can't PowerDVD intercept the Windows keyboard messages before forwarding them to the Blu-ray software? I am dying to upgrade to PowerDVD9 Ultra as it is the only version that can play 2012 Blu-ray properly. But short-cut keys not working is a deal breaker for me, as I have a custom keyboard remote control that I use with my multimedia PC.

Hi,

please try this:

under Settings > Blu-Ray Disc > disable the "BD-J Keyboard suport" this may fix your problem.

please let me know if it works for you

Thanks and yes, turn off BD-J Keyboard support does indeed restore the short-cut keys. The "Enter" key, however, does not restore playback from fast-forward or reverse to 1X as clicking the Play button does. In any case, I have discovered the Cinema mode which does not seem to work in the trial version. I am currently adding Media Center support to my remote control application and see if a Media Center plug-in actually makes more sense as PowerDVD short-cut keys are still limited (no direct short-cut for DVD root menu, for instance). In my opinion it is important for a commercial media player to support keyboard short-cuts as it encourages development of third-party remote control applications.

I ended up buying PowerDVD 9 Ultra for the Media Center integration. Since it does seem to be the only game in town. I would think it would increase sales for CyberLink if they include that functionality in the trial version as I don't think many people are aware of it.

Also, it still has the skin download bug from version 7.
