Hi guys - I've appreciated all the info you provide here. I'm a new windows 7/pd8 user having recently moved over from imovie. When I import my DV tapes in pd8 I get 1 big file (over 10 gig). In the imovie world files over 5 gig wreaked havoc. Also imovie automatically created a new file for new time stamps. In PD8 I can detect scenes but still one big file. Am I doing somthing wrong or is this normal? PowerDirector 8, PowerDVD10
Sony HDR-CX110 Full HD AVCHD
Panasonic DMC-Z3S camera (AVCHD lite - 720p)
Gateway, i3 cpu, ATI 5650 graphics, 4Gig ram, windows 7

And a Sony DV and a Cannon 8mm to boot.

I don't think PD automatically splits the video file, if that's what you are asking. __________________________________

If you look in "Preferences", in the "capture" tab, you can set the capture to split the video files. This only works for DV, not HDV.

Are using HDV? I have a DV7t-3000, running W7x64. I cannot capture HDV at all. I have to use XP on another computer.

Check your PM, I have sent you a link to the DV7t forum. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
