Hahaha. You actually did it!

(Remember, this is all BarryTheCrab’s fault.)

Yeah, help yourself to it, "Comrade".

BarryTheCrab wrote:Now I get the Cubbyhouse, the little house in your avatar is your HQ! Is that Alice Chang in the window?

Yeah. Is it actually CubbyHuTongFilms?
(We never have yet seen his birth certificate, have we Barry?)

Well, are "you" still sure you can’t find a 1920x1080 WMV (in PD8?)

Take advantage of Tony’s kind offer, and install the custom Profile(s) he has provided.

Good luck!

Hi videotec70,

Please see/read the Description Box directly under the tutorial's screen here...

If you don't have a Youtube account, send me a PM.
However, you may already have a square font in your standard Webdings fonts.

Note: For any of you who may care. A new more advanced multiple 3D Cubes, with modfying image "templates" (that wil be available for download), is coming soon.

Bader wrote:i do not find 1920x1080 in wmv format !

That's because there isn't a 1920x1080 WMV format, in PD version 8.

You didn't say, but I am assuming you are, as suspected, working with 16:9 source material.
So even though you may already have in the past, uploaded in 1280x720, try another upload test with a video produced to the 1280x720 WMV profile. You might find that it is actually quite acceptable for your Youtube videos. Plus you won't get the black bars.
Otherwise, you'll just have to use one of the other formats that do offer Full HD 1920.1080 profiles.

Or, maybe it's time to upgrade.
Both PD9 and PD10, do have FUll HD 1920x1080 profiles, in the WMV format.

Good luck!

Hi Bader,

Carl is absolutely right. A 4:3 video source Produced to 16:9 1080 HD, will result in black bars. Any 4:3 source material, will have black bars when displayed in a 16:9 field.

But there may be another issue going on here.

Bader, is your source footage SD 4:3? Or is it HD 16:9?
If it is 16:9, did you happen to choose the WMV9 HD “High” Quality profile when you Produced your video in PD8?
In PD8, the WMV9 HD “High” Quality profile is 1440X1080, not a 1920x1080 (a true 16:9).
The WMV9 HD “Standard” Quality is 1280x720 (a true 16:9).

So, if your source video is... or your camera outputs to a... 1920x1080 or 1280x720 video. And you then Produce your video to the WMV9 HD “High” Quality (1440x1080), it may look OK when you play it back on your computer. But when you upload this 1440x1080 video to Youtube, then Youtube (I guess), sometimes thinks that it's not a true 16:9 video, and will display the video with black bars on the sides.

As a demonstration, here is a 1280x720 source video, that I Produced to the WMV9 HD High Quality 1440x1080 profile, in PD8.
We know that 1280x720 is 16:9, so it should definitely fill the Youtube screen with no black bars. But look at what Youtube did with the 1440x1080 render/produced version that I uploaded.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-l_Pvmrh7vk
(Yes, that is black bars on a true 16:9 source video)

Bader, in PD8, if you are indeed editing 16:9 source footage, do not use the WMV9 “High” Quality (1440x1080) profile when you Produce. If you really do have your heart set on set on using the WMV format, then use the WMV9 “Standard” Quality profile.
Or perhaps use the h264 AVC, Or Mpeg2 formats, to Produce your project to a true 16:9 Full HD video, that Youtube will display in full screen, without any black bars.

But... if you are in fact editing 4:3 source video, then ignore everything that I wrote above.
And look again at what Carl already wrote about displaying 4:3 content in a 16:9 field.

(By the way, you do have the option of stretching your 4:3 to 16:9 in PD8, by using the change aspect ratio option in the right click menu. But doing that will often make things in your video look a bit distorted. Still, it is an option.)

Heavytiger wrote:I downloaded your packed project but don't know how to use it.

EDIT: Nevermind. Should have read all the replies before posting. Looks like you got it working!

KeepVid is what I've been using. But as Barry says, there are hundreds of them out there. Some free, some not so free.

Heavytiger wrote:Actually by clicking fix red eye it may be trying to fix just the one photo but it isn't doing a very good job.

Yes by just clicking on the “X” (to close the Magic Fix window), you have now applied the Remove Red Eye to only that one image you selected. You will see a little icon in the image in the timeline, indicating that the enhancement has been applied.

Heavytiger wrote:Also an old tutorial of I think Pd 7 shows fixing red eye manually. How do I do that? I do have the Photodirector 3 and PowerDirector 10 combo if that makes a difference.

Yes, it makes a difference. Unless you still have PhotoNow.
The manual Red Eye Removal, in the tutorial you asked about (linked below), was done in PhotoNow, which came with PD7.

(see... 04:52 to 06:19)

But perhaps there is a Red Eye Removal tool in PhotoDirector3.

Hi Thanalas,

Just chiming in to agree with HalCon, that the Apply To All is a great tool.
But remember, it only “applies to all” that is in the same track. So if you have 14 tracks in your timelines in play, you’ll have to do an Apply To All, to each individual track, if desired.
And if a track is a mix of images and clips, one must “apply to all” separately, to the clips, and to the images.

Still, even if you only want to apply an enhancement to 16 of your 20 clips in a track, it’s a lot easier and faster (after Appling To All), to then go back and remove the enhancement from 4 clips, than applying the enhancement one at a time, to the intended 16 clips.

Hi gskywalkers,

Just as Carl says, I’m also not aware of ever having been able to change the thumbs’ order, by independently dragging them around the Media Library.

But, as you may already know. You do have the option to place specific clips/images in custom sub folders (click on the Hide/Display Explorer View tab at the middle left of the media library), and then only display the thumbs in a particular sub folder.

And you also have the “Sort By” option shown below.

No problem Bill.
I just (and I apologize if I came of as being bit too defensive), wanted to clarify that no steps “where not included” in that PD8 tutorial (as I was the one that made that version 8 tutorial back then).

But certainly, receiving 3 different tutorials, showing 3 different methods, in 3 different version of PD, covering a similar task, can absolutely lead to one absorbing separate bits and trying to combine and apply these unrelated bits to a seemingly similar task. Only to then find that… something just ain’t working right here.
Kind of like being advised to drop a Chevy engine and a Ford transmission in a Toyota pickup, and then finding that things aren’t coming together as well as one had hoped.

But again, “you” got it resolved and sorted out (perhaps in spite of us, hahaha). And that’s the most important thing!

Sorry. Forgot to attach. Packed Project is attached below.
(Note: It was done as a quickie. One could perhaps tweak it a bit to get a more realistic glint.)

BillHansen wrote:The "Paste" notation wasn't included in the original tutorial (the one which was a workaround for an earlier version of PD)

Bill,

Glad you got it working!
And not to beat a dead horse.
But… there is NO “paste” needed using the method shown in the tutorial for combining separate projects in version “8” of PD. That’s why the “paste notation was not included” in that tutorial (as shown in the screen shot below).

But it appears you’ve got it all sorted now, which is the most important thing! Happy Editing!
