It's good that the developer eventually provided Ward with the free upgrade that he was entitled anyway to but you can't blame him for being angry at first
Thanks for your reply. Why won't PowerDVD detect the subtitles in the MPG when most every other media player does? That is exactly what I'm trying to do, display subtitles that are in an MPG.
To get rid of that MoovieLive thing on the main screen, in the x86/cyberlink/powerdvd folder, find 2cMovie.dll, and rename it to 2cMovie.dll.old
I second that. Where is the search option here?
Whwnever I try to select a subtitle for an MPG that contians subtitles, "Primary Subtitles " selection is greyed out.

That happens to me too occassionally on my Windows 74 64-bit Ultimate. Windows stays running fine but PowerDVD 10 gets unresponsive then freezes.

Sometimes all I have to do to fix the problem is restart PowerDVD. Other times I have to open the Task Manager and kill:
PDVD10Serv.exe "32
PowerDVD10.exe "32
PowerDVDCoxl0.exe "32

Very annoying.

I even updated my NVIDIA 8800 GT drivers to version 197.45 but it did not make a difference.
PowerDVD Bug: No audio when playing MPG with 6 channel AC3.

MPG's with 2 channel AC3 audio plays fine.
To play FLV files in PowerDVD is simple. Download and install PlayFLV, a free installation package that enables Media Players to play FLV (Flash Video) files.

Google "PlayFLV" to download.
1. download and install PE Explorer from Heaventools
2. start PE Explorer and open BlackSatin.DLL file
3. view, resources
4. replace the pngs of the skin in section IMAGE:

INITIAL\PDVD_1280x1024.PNG, ...1280X720.PNG and 1280X800.PNG to a png of your choice (eg. Photoshop)

5. replace INITIAL\SKINTHUMBNAIL.BNP to a small preview of 200x137 px bmp (this will be shown in PDVD configuration menü)

6. edit the PRELOADSKIN.XML using an app like UltraEdit (the dolby, surround, HD etc. icons will not be shown this way)

remove this section :

<!-- Video -->

<ImageArranger name="FeatureIcon" left="10" top="10" right="774" bottom="427" ResizeStretchX="100" ResizeStretchY="100"
Show="1" Anchor="Bottom" DrawingDirection="BottomLeft to TopRight"
ItemCountPerRow="100" IconDiffX="5" IconDiffY="5" IconWidth="75" IconHeight="50" Alpha="150"
ShowInVideo="FALSE" ShowInVisualization="FALSE" FullScreenShiftX="0" FullScreenShiftY="-90">
<Command name="ImageArranger"/>
</ImageArranger>

7. repeat above procedure with the file BlackSatin_HighDPI.DLL

Note: sizes of INITIAL\PDVD_1280x1024.PNG, ...1280X720.PNG and 1280X800.PNG are different due to the high definition:

INITIAL\PDVD_1280x1024.PNG = 1920 x 1536

INITIAL\PDVD_1280X720.PNG = 1920 x 1080

INITIAL\PDVD_1280X800.PNG = 1920 x 1200

The PRELOADSKIN.XML section to remove is slightly different:

<ImageArranger name="FeatureIcon" left="15" top="15" right="1161" bottom="640" ResizeStretchX="100" ResizeStretchY="100"
Show="1" Anchor="Bottom" DrawingDirection="BottomLeft to TopRight"
ItemCountPerRow="100" IconDiffX="7" IconDiffY="7" IconWidth="112" IconHeight="75" Alpha="150"
ShowInVideo="FALSE" ShowInVisualization="FALSE" FullScreenShiftX="0" FullScreenShiftY="-90">
<Command name="ImageArranger"/>
</ImageArranger>

PowerDVD has a lot of issues in the subtitles department that need to be addressed and solved.
If you enable "Hardware acceleration" (NIVDIA Pure Video), it disables subtitles. No subtitles will appear in any video in any way, shape, or form. If you uncheck the box next to "Enable hardware acceleration (NIVDIA Pure Video)", only then will subtitles appear again.
