AVCHD editing with PD8 and 100GB HD space requirements

Hi,

On the hardware requirements for PD8, cyberlink requests 100GB (reccommended) of disk space to edit AVCHD file.
Does this space must be available on the system drive? (C:\)
I have a fast 150GB drive and to reserve 100GB of it just to accomodate PD8 seems to me a bit to much.
Is is possible to specify a second HD?

Thanks

Hi there -

The 100GB recommendation is for Blue Ray Disc / AVCHD production. That available space would best be on the drive where the editing/production is being processed. Yes - video production does need some "head room".

Does your PC have only one drive? In today's language, 150GB doesn't give you much flexibility. If hard disc space is a limitation, I'd invest in an external hard drive (or install an extra internal drive). These are reasonably inexpensive (1TB for not much more than $US100), & good for backing up files & general storage.

That would allow you to meet space recommendations.

Cheers - Tony

Hi Tony,

I need to do some AVCHD editing.
I have two HDs. A fast 150GB drive where I install all the programs, and a second one for storage: 500GB.

I plan to do put all my clips in the 500GB hard drive, and run PD8 from my C drive.
Do you know where I need to have the 100GB space available for editing?

Thanks

Yes - on your C drive.

Your storage plan sounds like the way to go... but, depending on your storage requirements, you still may need more disc space.

Editing AVCHD, it won't take long before your 500GB drive is chockers!

Cheers - Tony
