i narow the problem :
it seems that all avi file play and preview fine in pd14 Except those the pd14 made from dvtape!(with a firewire 1394 card)sony dv camcorder
when i capture a dv tape with the pd14 i have no options or settings to set .all are greyed out and there is a note that " settings are taken from the dv" or something like that.
any ideas guys ?
a workaround:
if i capture the tapes as second option mpg what are the down sides or benefits?is it the same quality?can i proccess those the same way? i noticed that these mpg files are not playable in a sampung tv unless i produce them in mp4.
thanks again !!!
As I said, the codec pack may have screwed somehting up. You may not want to hear what I say because there is somethign wrong with your set up. Mine works differently and as expected.
I have recently captured video from a HV30 via firewire. I did not have any choice in format it was set to DV. Everything captured fine and I had no problems playing them on my computer (PDVD 15)
I did not try on a Samsung TV. Do you have any options for playback on the TV? How did you try to play the mpg2 files - disc, firewire, USB drive? I have 2 different Samsung TV's so I can look if you tell me whaich model you have. Mine are several years old.
Mpg2 files is the video format for standard DVDs. They are listed as VOB files on the disc. As such, they are are compressed using a standard compressor. AVI file (most of them) are uncompressed. The AVI files are larger so space on a computer or thumb drive may be an issue. Again, any file format will be compressed to mpg2 files if you encode/render the files/project to a standard DVD.
Are you trying to make a standard DVD (or video file) or are you trying to work with high definition to make an AVCHD disc or Blu Ray
Did I miss anyhting you asked or questionsed?
