Constant rendering

Hi, I've have PD10 for a couple years now and made a few videos without too much trouble but I'm trying to start a new project and I can't even view a clip that I'd like to use without PD10 stopping to render after each second of video (actually, it play less than a second each time before it stops to render). This is just a clip that I have not done anything with, I'm just trying to watch it so that I can pull a few part out. I've tried with other clips and also tried viewing my own prior videos and the same thing happens each time. I've got 8 meg RAM and 100Gig of free HD space. I've tried rebooting and viewing in low res but nothing has helped.

Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Thanks, SG

Ok, just found a fix. In a previous post Dafydd Bevan - SoftDeko mentions build 3265. That's a later version than what I was running even though I have auto updates turned on and on the tech support for PD10 only lists version 2231 which is what I had. Downloaded v3265 and rendering issue is gone even when I view in HD resolution. Posting this here and hoping that someone updates the tech support page for others having the same problem.

Did PD10 do the same thing a couple of year ago? on the same type and resolution of clips? on the same clips? If it had been doing that then nothing can really be done.

If the problem only exist now, check to see what has changed in your pc to cause this. One change would be in using a newer graphics card driver on a nVidia card. You need to give more detail such as part A and B in this link: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/7958.page .

That was quick. Glad that you found a solution that works for you. That doesn't really explain it if you were able to create videos years ago before the patch.

Good point tomasc, I agree totally with your logic. Seems like there must be some other moving parts but, as long as it works... kiss

This is a repeat of that hoary old chestnut of constant rendering being caused by updated nVidia drivers. Cyberlink introduced patches for versions of PowerDirector from 10 upwards to cure the issue but it seems that every time nVidia issue an update Cyberlink has to play catch-up.

You've obviously cured your problem by applying the PD10 patch but there is a risk that another nVidia update may cause it to reappear. My advice would be to change your settings to ensure that your nVidia driver cannot be updated automatically in the background. That includes Windows Update which can, I believe, update the video driver. I have all my system update settings set to notify only. Whilst it may be mildly irritating to get multiple notifications I consider it's a small price to pay for a stable system. Regards,
Mike
