Well, I'm back with a problem that I'm encountering w/PD 11 (never had the problem with PD 10). Don't know if it's unique to PD11 or, probably, my computer.
With two attempts to make a video with music clips, after importing, making minor trims to some, and then adding chapters, when I click on Produce, the screen goes black and I get the error that the display driver stopped working (see atch).
I'm using a refurbished computer that I started-up on Jan 30. I'm including my dxdiag.
Anyone got any suggestions on why it is happening? No problems playing the clips outside of PD 11.
BTW - even thouigh it says it has recovered, PD11 never comes back. I have to use Task Mgr to close it out and reopen. Once I reopen, reimport my project, it works ok.

Hi boonsong -

Is there a reason you're using an older driver for your GPU?

Driver Version: 8.960.11.1000 - Driver Date/Size: 4/26/2012 05:54:48, 1067520 bytes

The first thing I'd do is update that driver http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx - it may or may not solve your problem.

Cheers - Tony

Hello ynotfish. Thank you for your response. I apologize for not getting back sooner but I had to leave and it was too late to reply when I got back.
I used the link you provided and downloaded the Catalyst (2nd time) and Hydrovision. This morning, I opened PD 11, imported my saved project and went straight to burn. I came out ok.
I will do another project and see if that solves the problem. Will get back to you either way.
A different item and reddirect to wherever it might be appropriate. I tried to include two atchs in a post/reply and what happened is after importing the atchs, there was no submit button and at the bottom all I get is a rotating circle with the words Preview and Saving greyed out. This is not the 1st time this has happend.
Again, thanks for your help. Jack

Ok. I'm back. Started another project. Got it edited the way I wanted. Clicked on Produce. In that window, I clicked on SVRT and it came up with Profile 1. Clicked Apply and then Start. Got the error message shown in the attachment.
Yesterday, I updated my AMD driver.
After I got the error message shown in the atch, I opened Windows Media Player and Quick Time and both are up-to-date.
Any ideas on what the problem is here?

Hi,
I am not familiar with AMD cards I use Geforce, but I get better performance with shadow file turned off and less hassles. I don't use SVRT as in my estimation it only applies to videos that have been changed and/or effects added to that cpu and graphic drivers that incorporate it.
Jim
p.s. If your CPU is powerfull enough you shouldn't have problems running without shadow file Intel i7-2600@3.4Gz Geforce 560ti-1GB Graphic accelerator, windows 7 Premium 12GB memory

Thanks. Didn't think about shadow file. Will uncheck that.
As for my computer, it is an HP Intel i7, quad-core, 3.60ghz w/10gb mem and 2tb hd. The graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 7570.
The graphics card came with it. Haven't use SVRT before now, so guess I'll file that. No problems with selecting WMV.
It is an HP refurb. Been having some issues with it so I might use the recovery discs I got from HP and restore then go through the time-consuming part of getting everthing back to the way I want it. My old computer had GE Force and I wish I'd been able to have that. Might consider swapping out.
Anyway, Thanks for the input.

By the way. I just opened PD 11 and imported my last project (2nd one) clicked on Produce and WMV and lo-an-behold, there is that old error "Display Driver stopped responding but recovered" but nothing there but white window.
Getting real weary of that. Gonna do such searching to see what I can come up with before I do the restoral. Jack

I'm back on the same problem.
I'm absolutely convinced that the problem of the display driver "crashing" is inherent in PD 11. I've tried for over 4 hours to produce a video of various music clips and every time I go to the Produce area, I get the error message the display driver failed to respond but has recovered, but PD 11 never comes back. I always have to use the Task Mgr to close it out. In addition, several times when PD11 crashed, I got the small error report window where you enter your email and a description of what happened, and it goes to Cyberlnik.
Why do I say it is PD11? Because I took the file (saved) and used Windows DVD Maker to burn the disc and it came out perfectly. Not only that, one more than one occasion I by-passed the Produce option and went straight to Burn Disc and always got the error message that the disc was smaller than the file to burn. However, Windows DVD Burner burned the same file without any changes. In fact, it added a menu.
So, everything in my computer is up-to-date as I've went through the process of clicking up update on everything two times, so I know it is nothing in my computer.
If anyone has anything that might convince me otherwise, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm gong to email tech support and see if they will let me reinstall PD10. Never had these kinds of problems with it. Jack

Hi boongsong -

That's terrible!

I don't think it's something inherent in PD11, but it certainly is only showing up in PD11. I also don't think installing PD10 again is a sensible option.

My advice is to completely uninstall PD11, using Revo Uninstaller (or similar) to clear out the registry. After a reboot, reinstall PD11, then re-install QuickTime... http://www.apple.com/au/quicktime/download/

Cheers - Tony

Update. I redownloaded/installed PD 11 Ultra. Ran the same video clips that I had the problems with. Minor trims on some, added chapters, went to Produce/WMV. Bam!!Display driver crashed/recovered but PD11 didn't recover.
I then emailed support and they gave me the links to redownload/install PD 10 Ultra (didn't think about my backup program - Carbonite)(Another senior moment )
Took the same clips, did the same edits, went to Produce/WMV, it produced, the went to Buirn Disc. Bam!! Came out perfect.
Fraustrated!!
Went back to PD11, imported same clips and, believe it or not, it Produced and Burned without a hitch.
Still in a fog as to why I kept having the problems before.
Haven't tried anything new yet. Hopefully no more problems. At this point, I won't show this as solved until I try a couple more times. If no problems, I'll be back and mark this solved.
Thanks to all of your inputs and suggestions. I can always count on you guys to keep me in line and teach me new things. Don't believe the saying "you can't teach an ole dog new tricks". You all do it all the time.
P.S. I have a link on my desktop to the CL uninstaller. AS for Quicktime, it installed/updated with PD10 install.

Well, this will be my last post on this item. I'm frustrated beyond belief.
I'm still having the display driver stopped/recovered problem and it happens when I click on Produce.
I went to AMD site and redownloaded Catalyst and Hydravision. Went to Cyberlink Facebook page, clicked on AMD link and posted a question on this and one reply was to uninstall old drivers and install new ones. Don't have any idea what the new ones are as there isn't anything on AMD site.
It's amazing that I can import/produce/burn exact same clips on PD10 and have absolutely no problems but PD11 crashes everytime @ the Produce point.
I've reinstalled it from CL links and then uninstalled and used the CL uninstaller then reinstalled using the backup disc I purchased then installed all updates. Can't get rid of this problem.
If anyone has any other ideas, let me know. If not, I'm going to uninstall PD11 and see if CL will give me a refund. Jack

Well, I might have discovered the problem.
I reviewed all of the responses to my post(s) and decided I'd go through all of the suggestions.
I used the link provided by ynotfish on Quicktime (I downloaded it previously from that link). When it opened I selected Repair. After it was done, I opened PD11, imported the same clips then went straight to Produce. It produced.
Now I will try another project and see if that was the cure.
Thanks to all of you and your patience with me on this.
