Beginner need help:captured a file and can open for 1 time then the file gone

Beginner to use,
I just captured a file (quite long about 40 minutes) and can open to view for 1 time then after close/(stop) the file, that file gone!
I can not retrieve again. (try search for .wmv file; to the trash of Window)
I have not deleted it and how come the file could be gone.
Would you please tell me how to retrieve the file
Thanks. the file is important, ceremony can not be done again.
