My lower thirds are pixelating

Disclosure. I am a newbie so I apologize in advance for my ignorance.

I am trying to make a very basic lower-third for a new story that I'm editing. I am making both the background and text in photoshop. My problem is that that when I import this png file into PD10 library and insert it into a track on the timeline the letters look very pixelated and un-sharp.

I am doing the title in PS because when I create titles in PD10 I couldn't find a way to move it to the part of the frame that I want it to appear at.

So my questions are (a) is it possible to arrange a different location for the titles to appear in PD10 and if not (b) any advice or input on how to keep the version I'm creating in photoshop from pixelating so badly.

Thanks,
Sam

Produce a short clip and see if it still looks bad. Often it is only the preview quality. If it still looks bad, what size is the image and what size are you producing to? You may get better results if you use a profile with constant bitrate for producing the video. __________________________________

Hi,
don't know much about Photoshop...but when you export your image from PhotoShop How are you exporting It?
I work in PhotoPaint x3 and Xara designer (Xara dsigner is the program I create backgrounds, objects etc., then export as PNG or Jpg files at 1920X1080 size, bring them into PhotoPaint for any masks I want to create, then export again in png format still at the 1920X1080 @96dp and have no problems. If your image in Photoshop aren't a close proximate of the final size you may find pixelation in PD (especially if it is being enlarged say from 640X480 to 1920X1080.

Hi Spotlight -

There has to be a simple reason your lower thirds are pixelated. I assume the rest of it is fine??? It's only the imported ,png files that are a problem?

Are your lower thirds text or a title bar or both? What is the resolution of the file?

Perhaps you could attach one of your Photoshop produced lower thirds for other members to check out.

when I create titles in PD10 I couldn't find a way to move it to the part of the frame that I want it to appear at.

- You must be trying to do something fairly complex. Could you describe what you're after?

Barry - please try not to hijack the topic. What about your lower third?

Cheers - Tony

Hi,
I tiptoe (with caution) in here because I’ve used PHSH for years
and have not ever experienced what you describe.
Every .png file I save from “there” displays excellent in PD.
As a thumb rule I always make .png’s double size of what I need
and adjust in editor.
(I know of those who go to the length of x4 size!)

If you attach a sample I’d be happy to try it out.

Nina

Edit: you may also attach the .psd file !
