Youtube restrictions and creating 2 videos to play side by side query
[Post New]
Hi
I am currently using Powerdirector V10 and would like help with a couple of things if possible.

1st one when I was using version 9 of Powerdirector I was able to modify the registry to allow videos longer than 15 minutes to be uploaded to Youtube, since upgrading to this version it has resorted back to the 15 minutes and even though I have modified the registry it does not appear to recognise the changes and still limit me to 15 minutes upload.

Can anyone let me know what I need to do to change this?

My second query is I am trying to make a video and the final effect is that there will be 2 videos running side by side and for some reason I am having difficulty achieving this.

I would like the 2 videos to run vertically side by side – the videos are game videos and the recordings are the same gameplay from 2 different perspective.

I have tried the grid but it does not appear to allow me to use half a screen or it is quite possibly I am not doing it correctly.
I did try and have a quick go at the instructions for a split screen but that did not appear to look right unless again I was doing that incorrectly.

I would appreciate if anyone could let me know what I need to do to get the effect that I am looking for.
Many thanks in advance

Shewar

On the second question, place the first video in track 1 and position it on one side of the screen. Place the second video in track 2 and position it on the other side of the screen. Now, open track 2 video in the PiP Designer by clicking the Modify button. Apply a mask to show only the part of the screen that you want to show. Track one should show on the rest of the screen. __________________________________

Thank you I will have a go and see how I get on.

The registry hack should work OK in PD10, it does for me.

Hi Jamie

I have done as you have suggested but the masks available does not appear to give the results as expected. If I try the left or right mask it shows an empty part of the screen (game play) as most of the action is centered in the middle on both videos. The centre mask gives the closest as it captures the centre action but then covers the action on the first video.

I have attached 2 screen shots to show what I am seeing.

Middle.bmp shows the result of the centre mask

split screen.bmp show when the right side mask is used

Is there any other way to get both videos to run side by side?

Apologies if the previous attachment were too large just saw the sizes. I have added another attachment which shows what I am trying to achieve just that it is only half the size. Is it possible for me to have each video to fill its own half of the screen fully from top to bottom?

Many thanks in advanced

You are close. Now, click on the clip in the time line. Look at the preview window and you can now grab the edges or corners and resize it. Make it half screen and drag it to the side. Do the same for the other clip, but drag to the opposite side. You should now have the effect you are looking for. You will probably have black bars top and bottom, but that can not be avoided without cropping part of the sides.

Actually, you may not even need the masks when doing it this way.
