Can someone please help an old fella out?

First up, my menus are all present in PD's Create Disc interface. There's no problem there.

In trying to figure out a way to modify menu button masks & frames so the thumbnails wouldn't be truncated and they'd display accurately as 16:9 (not 1:1), I went off in search of the folders containing the templates.

When I got to C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector10\Menus I found only one (1) subfolder containing the "Monopoly" menu

So I looked in C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector - where the PD9 menus would be stored. There's Broadway, kids, MemoryBox, Petal, Sea Horse, Travel & TravelAround.

I found a number of downloaded ones (from DZ) IN C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\9.0\CyberLink\DirectorZone Download\MT\16_9 and my custom ones in C:\Users\Tony\Documents\CyberLink\Custom Menus, where I'd expect them to be.

My question is - if there are 12 standard menu templates in PD10 & 6 from the Romance pack (which are doomed to be space fillers), where are the rest of the menu templates stored???

I'm sure the answer is simple, and I don't need an explanation of the fuzzy logic behind it, I'd just like to know where they are for when I dig into things to modify.

Cheers - Tony

Hi Tony,
Please clarify which Menu Templates you are referring to.
Are they the ones which show up in PD10's Menu Preferences >"All Templates" as being unavailable to "Modify"? If these are the ones you're referring to then I suspect they're embedded into PD10 script.

Right Click and the "Modify" option in the pop up either displays or not.

If they are templates which are available to "Modify" and you cant track them then I have a question for you?

Do you have other CyberLink products on your computer. For example CyberLink PowerProducer. CL's PP will have a large selection of templates and these have previously shown up in PD.

Just responding to "help an old fella out"

Dafydd

So - the answer wasn't so easy after all... the way the menus are stored is based on some system of logic completely foreign to me. I've answered my own question but I hope no one ever asks WHY the folders are organised that way. It defies logic!

I worked out which template is which by locating the sub-folders and looking at the thumbnail images...

Locating them was as convoluted as the method of filing

Monopoly is stored in C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector10\Menus

Broadway, kids, MemoryBox*, Petal, Sea Horse, Travel & Travel Around are stored in C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector\Menus
** N.B. For some odd reason these are also found (duplicate folders, sub-folders & contents) in C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\templates\PowerDirector Content Pack 10\PowerDirector 10 Content Pack I\Menus

Baby Room, Birthday, Memory Box* (again), Party & Seed are stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\templates\PowerDirector Content Pack 10\PowerDirector 10 Content Pack II\Menus

The menus installed with the Romance Pack - Beach, Chocolate, Fireworks, Hearts, LoveLetter & Wedding - can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\templates\Menus\Romance Pack v3

So the answer is - the menu templates are all over the place!

Yes - I have other CyberLink products. PowerDVD11, PhotoDirector & MediaShowEspresso... not sure they're relevant.

Yes - I'm aware of how to modify menus within PD. As I explained, my purpose was to locate the actual files to see what changes could be made to menu button masks & frames in order to have them display correctly, with no truncation & in the correct aspect ratio.

Cheers - Tony

Yes - it's me again, probably talking to myself.

Just wanted to correct some information, so as not to mislead anybody

Downloaded menus from DirectorZone

Despite my previous assertion that these are stored in C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Roaming\CyberLink\PowerDirector\9.0\CyberLink\DirectorZone Download\MT\16_9, when I look there I can find only thumnail images - not the regular sub-folder structure associated with menus.

The actual menus (downloaded from DirectorZone) are in C:\Users\Public\CyberLink\Downloaded Menus

I have absolutely NO IDEA why there would be a separate folder with only thumnails

Cheers - Tony
