SmartSound installs over and over again

I never used SmartSound before today, and I didn't find anything about this when I searched this forum.

Every time I go anywhere near SmartSound, including a clip in the timeline, the SmartSound installer launches. I get the pop-up "Please wait while Windows configures SmartSound QuickTracks." This might happen a dozen times in a row. It also happens when I open a project, save a project, or when PD9 auto-saves my project.

What's going on?

PD9 9.0.0.2930 64-bit Windows 7

P.S.: I just installed the 3505 patch, and the behaviour hasn't changed.

There is a Smart Sound update 5180 that fixes some things.

If you have not ever done smart sound you probably have the original version that shipped with PD9. (It was buggy).
