Using edited movie clips, Titles from a project in another

I created my movie and edited movie clips and created custom titles. I want to redo the project in 16:9 aspect ration and use the edited clips and titiles. Seems that you cannot import titiles or edited clips into another project. Can someone help?

Hi John,

How confident are you using your computer? I ask this because I will direct you to carry out a number of tasks and if I write this up correctly you'll be able to open 4:3 titles in 16:9 and you'll be able to call info to recreate the edited clips in the time-line. However I'm only sure it will work on my computer and not your's - so it's done at your own risk okay.

Right. This does depend upon the Titles you have saved and what you've included in them. I can change the titles for you but want to get you to do each task in stages and report back.

1. Copy the project pds and rename it 169John.pds
2. Open 169John.pds project file with NotePad (untick the "Always" option).
3. Look at the 7th line of text (it's a long line of text data)
4. Locate ASPECTRATIO="FALSE"
5. Alter the FALSE to TRUE
6 Save the pds file
7. Close the pds file
8. Double click on the 169John.pds file and PD6 will open in 16:9 and your project will be viewable.

Now the Titles.
I would like to know the results before i tell you what to do.

I also wonder if you have Titles in the timeline - you need to inform me of your choices.

Thanks Dafydd for replying. The issue is I created a vacation movie and found out later I should have started the project in 16:9 aspect ratio instead of 4:3. The clips are in 16:9 ratio. My TV is a 16:9 WS. So i want to recreate the movie in 16:9 ratio as a new project. I found out that even though I can pack the project, the clips are the originals and not the edited ones. Also the titles and music cannot be imported from the orginal project. I will try your workaround and get back later today. I appreciate your help. I really do....

Hi John,

SmartSound audio should NOT be a problem - nothing to worry about as the pds will call the info into PD and the audio files will be placed in the time-line at the correct points.

My concern is with the Titles.

1. If you've saved them as Custom Titles that's good
2. If you've used the template titles without saving - that could be a problem.

I can tweak the Custom ones and the template ones - just it's a pain to ID the Template ones as they're in 4:3 and 16:9. If you've saved them as Customised ones...heck that'll be great to know. Custom saved Titles are all located in
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector\6.0\MyTitles

If you've used the Default Title template and text only.... that would not be a problem as it'll replicate (open with the pds) without any need to tweak.

I know my way around the files and what to do etc.

Dafydd

Well I came home and did what you suggested by editing the .pds in notepad. To my amazement it is now in 16:9 aspect ratio, and music, titles so far look good. I guess all I will have to do is burn it to dvd and see how it looks. I will let you know. Thanks a million!!!!!
