Crashing and Burning Issue

Ok, I've been dealing with tech support on this one, but I thought I would throw it out there to the forum folks!

I just purchased POwerDirector 9 Ultra 64 and am trying to run it on Windows 7 32. It will load up and I can put video clips into the timeline, but when I try to use "Power Tools" it crashes.

In addition, when I try to burn a Blu-Ray it will start to burn and then freeze. I have plenty of memory, have installed all new video drivers, and have been dealing with tech support for three weeks now. Any ideas?

Thanks! Stu29573

Whoa Stu!

I use the same camera... & my previous PC could barely deal with it (especially recording at 24MBps)!

Your GPU is well below what you need to comfortably edit clips from your camera... http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+2400+PRO

Can't say for sure whether that's part of the crashing issue when you hit Power Tools, but it's definitely something that needs upgrading if you're working with HD video.

Cheers - Tony

EDIT:
You cold try turning off Shadow Files in Preferences - on your screenshot, they're midway through processing.

Thanks Tony!

As you can tell, I'm pretty much a newbie to HD, although I love the camera. I guess I need to run out to the local MicroCenter and do some upgrading. I'll let you know how it goes! Stu29573

Well crud.

I just bought and installed a Radeon HD 5450 graphics card and drivers and.... no difference. I also made sure that my shadow files where all loaded. I'm at a loss.... Stu29573

Ok here is an error screen that pops up when I hit Power Tools. It is so quick that I never read it before, but I did a screen grab on it. Any ideas?

What version (9) and build are you using? The most recent is 2930.
Have you tried a uninstall/reinstall yet?

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/7958.page PART C

Try turning off Shadow files, see if that helps.
Also, Tony mentioned your HD files might be too robust for your system.

It looks like 2901. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. I made sure the shadow files were off. I just purhased and installed a better graphics card to take care of Troy's concern. All to no avail... Stu29573

I am unfamiliar with 2901, it should be 2930.

Hi Barry

I'm assuming that's correct. The full number is VDE101129-01 (I just took the last four numbers because they seemed closest).
Anyway, I got it from Amazon two weeks ago. Stu29573

Hi Stu -

It'd be well worth updating your PD. The latest build is 2930.

Success! At least sort of... I ran the updates and I actually can burn Blu-Rays now so half of the problem is solved. However, the program still crashes when I select Power Tools, which means that the main reason I got the program still doesn't work. The error I get is attached. Any more ideas?
