Project will freeze in the middle of rendering (under "Produce")

I am having a problem rendering a project in PowerDirector 9. It's a 10 minute video and it will begin rendering and when it gets around 24% ir so complete, it stops and and the program freezes. I have to use Task Manager to close the program. I've tried changing format (like mp4 than mpeg 2 ect.) with the same result.

I have successfully rendered projects in the past without any problems. I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit). I've tried disabling my aniti virus and stopped most of my start-up programs from running and still no joy.

Any help and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike

Further to what Dafydd has suggested what is at the 24% mark on your timeline in your project?

If there is a transition, photo, other format of video clip? If so, try removing it.

Happing editing

The file formats included in the video are mp4, avi and jpeg. The end of the video is a slide show I created with the Jpgs file.
I'm using a new 8300 xps machine with 8 GB of ram.

Also for the other post from CubbyHouseFilms, the 24% number is random. It will lock up at 19%, 22% etc.
I tried removing a special effect on some of the clips and it made no difference.

I've included the screenshot as requested.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mike,
I still require Part A & B from you please as per request.

Thank you for the screenshot.

The Sanyo footage, what camera is that and what is the resolution you've selected on the camera?

What is your output selection choices - be VERY precise with this information please? I'd like you to choose mp4 and relate that to me.

I see you have mp3's in the tracks - ummm, these may be a problem/cause of the issue. the source for these files may have an ecryption within them preventing their use. Use Wave Editor.

I want your full diagnostics please - asap.
I want the information on the sanyo choices and the mp4 output selections you're making - asap
I want to know what build of PD you're using and if it is the latest patch version.

This is an interesting problem which may have been highlighted by a senior editor. the information requested is key to finding the cause.

thanks

SoftDeko,

Here goes:

The build for the PD Ultra64 is 9.0.0.2930

The Part B info is attached.

I'm using a Sanyo Xacti

I use resolution of 1920 x 1080 60 HR

:the other formats available are:

960 x540 30 fps

1920 x1080 Field/S

1920 x1080 30 fps

1280 x720 30 fps

640 x480 30 fps SHQ

448 x336 240 fps SHR

192 x 108 600 fps UHR

The Sanyo files are saved as MP4.

I've tried "Producing" the project as H.264, MP4, MPEG 2, etc with no joy.

Also, the 2 or 3 minutes that are rendered does play back in WMP (And it really looks good too.)

Hope this info helps.

Anyway,
Thanks for your help and interest in this matter.

-Mike

Hi Mike,
MagicISO Virtual DVD-ROM0000

Fred sent me a PM pointing out there are three posts on the forum from the same type of PC and having checked two of them, they have the above software.

PC = System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
System Model: XPS 8300

Please uninstall the above software, reboot and then use PD9 again and see if there is a clash.

Quote: I'm using a Sanyo Xacti
Full model details please. I'm curious, I have a VPC HD2000. I record/edit 59.94 fps 1080p.
Quote: What is your output selection choices - be VERY precise with this information please? I'd like you to choose mp4 and relate that to me.

What are you selecting to OUTPUT/Produce to - exact details please?

I am making some additional enquiries.

I'm using (H.264)
AVCHD 1920 x 1080
this saves as .m2ts file

Also tried
MPEG-2
(HDV) MPEG-2 1089i
this saves as .mpg

AVCHD - which were you selecting??

Mpeg - NOT HDV - that's for HD tape.

As I mentioned MP4 previously and you have MP4 footage TRY using that to render your footage.

AVCHD option should be the 24bit 1080p

for H.264 AVC I use:

AVCHD 1920 X 1080

Should I try one of the other 2:

AVCHD 1920 X 1080p or

AVCHD 1920 x 1080 (24Mbps)?

for the MPEG-4, will the "Best Quality MPEG-4", will the output still be HD?

Yes

Yes

Your footage is 24mbps which BOTH of these output to. Frame rate differences can be dealt with on another day.

Nos da.

I tried "producing" the project in MP4 with not joy. Stopped rendering around the 2 minute 44 second point again.

So, I uninstalled PD9 and then re-installed PD9 and the program is now working fine. No trouble producing in any format.

I want to thanks you for all your help with this.

Hopefully it will stay "fixed" for now.

Thanks again.

-Mike
