I just bought the new Power Director 9 Ultra 64. After I edited a video, I tried to produce a DVD it and de PD freezes. I selected the preview the redering. My video is 1 hour and 30 minutes long. Is it too much for PD?

My computer is a Phenon II X4, 8GB RAM and Ratheon 5770 graphic card using a Windows 7 Home Premium 64.

Regards, Erick

OK, I cant see anything obvious here from what you've shown me - more images of the Create process may help. You don't need Shadow edit files instigated - shut them off in preferences asap.

Sample video file and source of the MOV files will help, camera and model names.

Please attach a 5 to 10 second sample of the video - unedited and directly from source.

thanks

Hi,

Kevin and I have spotted and reported a bug regarding ATi GPUs, which I see you have. PD kept hanging and crashing until I went to 'Edit' -> 'Preferences' -> 'Hardware Acceleration' and made sure both boxes were left unticked, to turn hardware acceleration off completely.

See if this helps and please report back.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I did what you said, disable all hardware acceleration, and it works! It's a pitty I can't use my Radeon 5770 to speed up the video creation... Thanks for the solution!

Dafydd, thanks for your attention too.

Best regards,
Erick

Andrew,

Would you take a look at a problem I have been having with PD 9 crashing. It can be found under PhotoJack, Power Director 9 –Produce Formats not working.

I tried to make the changes you suggested Hardware Acceleration. While they are not checked, it will not allow me to check them

Many Thanks

thanks Andrew! I can't believe how many times I've contacted tech support regarding this problem and even purchased the phone support and they haven't told me to do this! After an entire week of submitting support requests and calling phone support I was finally able to produce my video- many thanks

Matchpoint,
Thanks for the input. I will "nag" CyberLink's customer support and point out your post here. If you could PM me your customer support number asap, I will pass that on as well for CL to investigate.

Andrew's excellent observation was passed onto CyberLink some time ago and his solution to your problem should have been given to you.

Thanks
Dafydd

No problem! Has anyone had any better results with the new build, 2703, with hardware acceleration enabled?

I've changed to an NVIDIA GTS 450 so can't check!

Cheers,

Andrew

I've been using 2702 for about 2 weeks. It is less crash prone than previous versions. It does render a better job with SVRT and HA (Hardware acceleration - I use ATI) but I believe in a different way.

Using ATI's system monitor application, release 2702 actually uses LESS GPU with HA, almost zero in fact and MUCH more PC resources. Release 2330a used much more GPU, but with poorer results.

SVRT on 2702 is better than before, with good quality.

I still see intermittent crashes, nearly always on transitions (AVC files). A less but equally annoying problem is perpetual looping on segments (it actually does not hang) when rendering a project in a different format such as 1920x1080i and 1920x1080 (24). And once again it's at transition points.

Matchpoint,
CyberLink are requesting your full project to check out.
Please retest using different files (make a small project) and see if you can repeat the issue. if you can then please Export the project and tell me you have it ready for uploading for CL to look at.
File>Export>Pack Project Materials>browse and place in a new folder.
the folder and contents will be required by CyberLink.
thanks
Dafydd
