This has been commented on before, how PD prevents you burning a project if it feels it's too big to fit on a DVD.
I've recently completed a blu-ray project that I wanted to downscale to an 8.5gb DVD for my brother, who doesn't own a blu-ray player.
The project was 2 hours 6 minutes long and PD estimated that it would not fit onto the 8.5gb DVD with an estimate of 8548MB (see screenshot) and hence, when I tried to burn to folders or burn to disc, the 'refuse to burn' message popped up and I could not go any further.
At this point I was frustrated because I knew that a project of this length at a bitrate of 8mbps (the HQ setting) should fit on the disc no problem.
HOWEVER...
When I ticked the 'Burn to disc' and 'Create a folder' together and clicked 'Burn' a different message appeared, warning me that it might not fit on the disc but did I want to proceed anyway. I clicked to proceed.
The project burnt to folders first and then burnt to the disc. The project fitted on the disc at 7919MB and so I have my DVD in HQ without having to use 'Smartfit'.
The obvious question here is, why not replace the 'refuse to burn' message with the 'warning' message you get when burning to folders and disc simultaneously?
Cheers,
Andrew
