PD 9 - DVD Burn Failure

Anyone else getting this error?

---------------------------
PowerDirector
---------------------------
Burning unsuccessful.

Error code: e8007000E

Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I spent all the money to get what I thought was the latest and greatest - buying the Media Suite 8 ULTRA, only to learn I had to spend an extra $70 to get the latest Power Director 9 ULTRA as an upgrade (HUGE FROWN). That would be like buying Offfice 2010 and then having to upgrade Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. EACH INDIVIUDALLY, and each for MORE $$$. Deceptive in my opinion.

Oh well, I am just trying to get PD 9 to allow me to burn a DVD. I have had a number of program crashes with no explanation and "sometimes" I can restore the projects.... but, despite all that, I am most frustrated that I can not burn a DVD.

I used the "Smart Fit" selection instead of "Best Quality" - when the Best Quality showed on the gauge at the lower left as being 4.8 Gig for a 4.7 Gig DVD. After choosing "Smart Fit", it showed 4.1 G against a 4.7 DVD capacity. I have 115 Gig free on my 500 Gig Hard Drive, and cleaned out my temporary files from the temp folder.

I first tried burning a DVD and creating a file/folder on my HD at the same time.
That's when I got this error and nothing was burned to my DVD.

So, I tried again, this time NOT burning a DVD, but creating files on my HD ONLY - same failure and error message.

FINALLY, I tried burning just te DVD without creating files at the same time -- same ERROR and failure. Frustrating as heck. Anybody had similar problems that can share a "work around"?

Cyberlink has been a HUGE PAIN so far -- no phone support (without spending even more $$$), no email, no chat, and no remote control. I won't even make comments about the 3rd party, Digital River --->>> (FROWN).

I almost am forced to o back to Corel -- BUT, their nightmares were worse (if you can believe that!)

Thanx in advance for your help.

HI,
Please can you provide the three basics as stated below? The pdf is great but I'd also like to see a screenshot of the edit workspace.

I'd also like you to use Produce and opt for mpeg2 - bare with me on this one. I'm seeing if by splitting the render and write process you can write to disc. The mpeg2 if successful can then be brought back in and you can add chapters and create from there.

I have the exact same issue. I've been using the program for several days now and have been able to burn just fine but the latest one I tried to burn gave me the message. First I tried mpeg4 as I've done before. Then as per your reply above I tried a mpeg2 and got the same message. I tried both creating a folder and not creating a folder. I have over 400 gigs of unused space on my hard drive. Any suggestions for me?

I took a couple of screen captures but I don't know if thats what you need.

As a test, set the disc size to 8.5 and don't use Smart Fit. Of course, that will only work if the video is under 8.5GB. __________________________________

OK I'm back. My burner is working again. I did two things so I'm not sure which one worked. First I did a clean up.. got rid of internet files, emptied trash etc. Then I rebooted. What I tried to burn the cd again... it worked!

I am getting exactly this same error message. I have install the latest patches (2330A) and am still getting this error. It stops at the 24% complete every time. I was able to burn this project one after a reboot. I then made some small edit changes (added a smal video clip and changed an audio file) and I have not been able to burn it again. I have tried to burn to DVD and to a file and get the same error message. The video files were created using a Flip HD video camera. When I started having this problem I combined all the clips into a MPEG-2 video using PD9. My project is 4 scene. Each scene is a video followed by 1 or more slideshows. I have just produced the 4 scenes to MPEG-2 files and they all worked find, so it is not video conversion. I am only using 3329 of 4700 MB for a standard DVD.

Nothing is exactly the same here.
1. 3 basics - see below for the guides
2. Clean up your temp files and shut off back ground running software.
3. examine what is at the 24% mark or what is being created - Look at the menu you have selected and what changes have you made.

Thanks for the reply. Can you explain how to examine what is being created at the 24% mark? I do not know how to do this. Also, Would it help to run this under Windows 7? Right now it is on an XP machine.

First of all, I see from the number of posts -- this is a FREQUENT BUG [or limitation/issue] in Power Director 9.

1) I see one person - Dafydd Bevan - SoftDeko - doing a terrific job of trying to help people, but the "fix" or "workaround" is very complicated and involves tons of reading!

2) Excellent Forum Posting - on Troubleshooting by Dafydd Bevan - SoftDeko
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/7958.page

I tried using the Cyberlink ftp site listed in one of Dafydd Bevan earlier messages and could not connect (receiving a username/password error)

Here is the FTP site that does not work as listed in the above article:
ftp.gocyberlink.com
Name = HNameme
Password = 45Pwd348297

Maybe I need different/new username and password? How do I get those?

===================================
REPLY Challenge - resolved only by using an alias NEWTRiverRat306 to get by not accepting my real RiverRat306 member name
=====================================

Man, I tried to reply to THIS THREAD, but was redirected to another page and presented with a profile info screen, but when I entered my member name [RiverRat306] I go an error saying it must be unique? Screen prints are on my FTP server [see below]. Can you explain why I am getting that frustration/error?

Here are my details
============
Name: RiverRat306
Email: RiverRat306@gmail.com
Version: 9.00.2330a
Operating System: XP SP3
Hard Drive: 465GB
Free Space: 118GB
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo; 6400@2.13 GHz; 3.25GB Ram
DVD Burner: Sony DVD RW DRU-V2005

Here is my FTP server as I can not access Cyberlink's FTP server or find the ATTACHMENT button....

FTP Server: ftp://tech:support@jimbannon.dyndns.org
UserID: tech (all lower case)
Password: support: (all lower case)
Folder Path RE: This Topic: -->Cyberlink Power Director\Not enough Storage error

******* Now I did as requested, provided all the DETAILS. Back to my Problem...

MY A T T E M P T S to Fix the "Not Enough Storage is Available to Complete this Operation" ISSUE
==========================

When I tried PRODUCING to MPEG-2 [Dafydd Bevan suggested] all I got another error - "Error Trying to Produce to MPEG-2.pdf" screen print on my ftp server.

FYI
1) I did MSCONFIG before starting to be sure the start up program were eliminated
2) I emptied my temp folder
3) I did defrag

The only thing "unique" about this project is I am pulling source files from a USB drive. Would that have anything to do with it? What is I used a NAS high speed SATA drive on a network as the source?

AS I [and lots of others] FREQUENTLY get this failure error, are there any FIRST STEPS to take that produces the most likely SUCCESSFUL burn?

Looking forward to a productive response. Thanks in advance for all your assistance.

PS - Even thought Dafydd's "Attachment" Post was detailed [including graphics], there IS NOT ATTACHMENT -->> Button here on this screen -- as I write this .

I will also put all documnets on my FTP server as an alternative

I was receiving the same error until I went into the setup for DVD drive and slowed it down from 16x to 12x and that took care of it. The only problem is it will not "stick" at 12x, causing me to have to set this one each time I burn a DVD. Cheers! Ken

I am trying to avoid the burn to DVD totally. Opting to use Nero once I get the two folders setup on my hard drive. So, my errors have nothing to do with the DVD burner, I am trying to create a Video file folder(s)

Maybe it is just as well as that is what I am being forced to do; at least right now. I am using AVS DVD Copy with good result. I output the file, requesting full quality and selecting the double layer DVD media if the file becomes a bit too large to fit the single DVD media (selecting only to make a file and not to burn; it will not output to even a file if the result is larger than the media selected, I have found). I have not been able to be sure PowerDirector will produce the DVD on its own and get more errors (and disks that I have to toss out) than good, final disks. Is it CyberLink or what? I don't know but AVS has never sent me even one burn error. This is a pain, to be sure. Cheers! Ken

How do you get rid of the temp files several posters refer to?

And I repeat the question, how do you figure out where 24% or 21% or wherever it is that the burn fails in the project?

Do I estimate based on time? That is , if my project is 100 minutes and the burn fails at 20% should I look at the 20 minute mark?

Rgarding the temp files try CCleaner google with find it for you,

If you click the "preview while burning" tick you will see when your project stops.

From my memory I think the 21-24% is just after it burns the menus.

I haven't read the entire thread, have you tried burning to a folder first, then burn your dvd separately? My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

Wow...this DVD burn problem is a real bummer.

I tried burning several times to a DVD and to a folder. Every time it failed at 21% (after almost an hour of trying).

I have oodles of hard disk space, 3 gigs of RAM, and am using 8.5 gig DVDs.

I ran the CCleaner program, and am in the process of defragging hard drive.

When this happened to me previously, I would reboot the machine and the burn would go fine. That's not working anymore.

I wish that anyone who was having trouble burning to DVD in this topic would please post a DxDiag file like Dafydd requested early on. With these latest builds that have been released and I have been having problems, I was interested in knowing (I could find out if a DxDiag file was attached) if anyone here is using an ATI Graphic card. And...during Create Disc...did they have "enable hardware video encoder" selected when Burning their DVD, Blu-Ray, AVCHD, Do-Re-Me Discs.

It could be a possible cause for the burn failure.

Deselect the "enable hardware video encoder" in the Create Disc module before selecting "Start Burning"

Does it make a difference? It might not....but worth a shot. If it is successful, please report it here.

I was wasting all my time and CPU cycles running these other processes and trying to redo the burn yesterday.

I'll try and post a DxDiag this evening...how do I generate this file?
