I don't have a blu ray burner so I created a AVCHD video on a standard DVD. The problem is I cannot get it to play on my pc. I installed cyberlink HD264 pack but that didn't work. Neither does Splash pro. Splash plays files fine but not a DVD.

Any suggestions/

thanks,

AVCHD DVDs can only be played on a BR player or PS3... to your TV.

Does your PC have a BR reader(either internal or external)? That will work. Regular DVD drives won't.

Hi

No I don't have a blu ray reader. So if I understand correctly even though I can burn avchd video to a standard DVD with a standard DVD burner that same burner cannot read the disc for play back on a Pc. Seems strange.

The bottom line is that I need to buy a blu ray reader in order to view the video on my pc.

thanks for your help.

You could also play a blu-ray DVD on your PC using Cyberlink PowerDVD.

As far as I know PowerDVD 10 3D will play all DVD formats.
Standard DVD, AVCHD, Blu-Ray, and even European PAL.

Check the link I gave and read the specs.

Hello, you could also play the individual m2ts files (located in the STREAM subdirectory of the DVD) by using for example the free VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/).
