Dear Forum Members,

Your wisdom and skill is needed for this woe be gone would be video editor! Briefly, here is my story:

So I buy a new computer and install programs and I'm really happy. Everything is working fine including PD Ultra (though I don't think I had updated yet). I didn't use the program for several weeks and then tried to start it and I only get to the splash screen and it stops with the following Windows error message:

I've uninstalled and reinstalled and updated (per directions) and I continue to get the same result (won't start) and the same error message.

I will try and attach the dxdiag.txt file. Below are my system specs. Thank you for your help,

Sincerely,

Mark Denison

Hi Mark D,

I seem to recall...but my memory is fading from TMB (TooMany Birthdays)....and since you have a new computer that this may be the culprit.....but if your version of "Quicktime" is ....not sure how to state this....old....or not up to date...it may prevent Power Director from starting up.

May I suggest installing, or reinstalling or updateing your version of Quicktime on your PC?

I have version 7.6.6 and it opens fine in Windows 7 Homw Premium 64 bit.

I hope this helps...if not there will be other members that can assist you.

Regards,

Kevin

Dear Cap'n Kevin,

I just uninstalled QuickTime and voila! PD 8 loads like a charm. I think I removed some part of the QT install in the last week or two that made PD 8 & QT unstable.

Thank you for your timely and excellent diagnosis of my problem! That was very helpful.
Sincerely,
