PowerDVD full Version = 9 Ultra, latest version with latest patch
Operating System = Win 7 Pro 64-Bit
Is your PowerDVD a Retail product or bundles with HW? = 9 Ultra is Retail, 8 BR is HW bundle
Used VGA = yes
Used VGA driver version = latest
Used Audio device = Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver
Used Audio device driver version = Intel and realtek latest
Which kind of display connection = HDMI
Are you using singel or dual monitor environment = Duel
Are you using clone or extended mode (if use two display) = extended
What kind of Antivirus SW are you using = MS Security Essentials
The detailed issue description = District 9 BR-DVD displays as very large image off screen and no color, just shades of gray with terrible horizontal lines. The first three previews are fine, but the forth preview and feature film are not. Unable to change aspect ratio due to grayed out options. Ran BR advisor with all green. Tried different clone, extended, and single monitor environment WITHOUT success. Tried Intel Accelerator option on and off - no change. Tried different TrueHD settings - no change. Please help.

MOBO is a Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H with Intel i3 CPU.

Hello,

this issue should be fixed with next Patch release.

It is casued by new Intel VGA technology driver architecture which is not yet implemented in v2320

this issue can also be caused by non propper Intel Driver installation - please make sur the Intel Drivers are installed correctly

I have tested build 2528 and the issue persists with H.264 encodes. Mpeg2 and VC1 have proper Dxva acceleration, but AVC/H264 does not and exhibits said symptoms.

I have Core i5 430m, running Intel HD graphics v2040 (latest), Win7 64bit, PDVD9 Ultra 2528.

Update: latest build 2528 did not make a difference on main movie play. Still streached double size and is grainy with no color (just shades of gray). DVD BR plays great for DVD menu, Rating screen, and FBI warning.
New Intel VGA technology driver architecture has latest driver too (Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD version 8.15.10.2021 dated 12/14/2009).

Notice the BSP_Intel are (O) for DXVA2 when they should be (X). Why is PDVD not detecting DXVA acceleration for Intel HD graphics in Windows 7?

PDVD 2528
Intel HD Graphics Driver version 2082
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i3
Intel H55 Chipset (Zotac H55ITX Motherboard)

Hello,

I ust tested the v2082 driver and it also fails on my side (with differnt symptom - but playback is failing)

I use now driver v2057 - which is OK on my side with i5 661 CPU

Hi Ian,

I see - please check in the PDVD settings for Video if the HW accelearation can be activated.

I will forward these issues to our RD team for their investigation (nor sure if Driver or SW issue)

Can you post the information in the Information tab of config, especially the bottom portion like i did above? That should tell you what your hardware is capable of or at least what PDVD is able to take advantage of. I know I am able to enable/disable Hardware acceleration (Intel Clear video), but during playback of H.264 blu-rays, the check box becomes greyed out and unchecked.

Notice how BSP_Intel is disabled (O) under DXVA2 for H264 and VC1? They should be X for PDVD to utilize hardware acceleration. Right now it seems like a driver/software issue. PDVD is not recognizing the full capabilities of these new Intel graphics. It doesn't seem like an issue on WinDVD or TMT so i've come to the conclusion that it is a PDVD issue.

Michael, your attention in this matter is appreciated. Many people are buying the new Core i3/i5 computers and this problem is quite widespread.
