Hi Pix

Thanks
Hi when cropping a photo ocassionally the grey background of the original photosize gets left behind as a chequered background. How can I correct or get rid of this?

Thanks

Phil
Thank you!
Apologies for not searching but do the PD software packages rune independently?

Can I uninstall PD13 when I've upgraded to 14?

Thanks
Cheers Tony
Yes all present and correct!!

Phil
Hi Just downloaded and installed PD14. How can I tell whether the various content packs have installed correctly?

The process seems to have worked but I'm not sure there's much difference from what was available in PD13 or am I missing something?

Thanks

Phil
I wondered whether it might be a Windows 10 bug but I have just uploaded a video to FB from PD13 without problem.

Phil
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program but no change!

Phil
Thanks Pix
No absolutely nothing whether I press the share button in the bottom right hand corner nor from the main menu.
Weird!
Phil
Hi There

I select a photo and press the share on facebook and nothing happens!

Unlike all the other sharing options (e.g Flickr etc) where it asks me to do something like link to an account.

Anyone else have problems?

Thanks

Phil
I am saving the photos to a folder on my desk top on my hard drive on my computer. All my other pictures are in the pictures folder of the same hard drive thanks
I have scanned a number of photos and have made a number of edits etc.

I now want to commit those changes (i.e. save) so I have to export the photos.

I select all, hit export and get the export window.

I want to keep them in the same file/location so I choose that export destination.

I select Overwrite Without Warning for file naming conflicts because I'm not changing the name of the files.

I choose don't recompress photo if original is JPG and no adjustments were made - because I haven't edited all.

I hit the export button and get the error message specified.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Phil

I've not tested thoroughly enough, yet, to draw any conclusions but here are the steps & results of my initial test.

Thanks for your interest Pix. It does seem that there are some anomolies with the face recognition and that it may not be completely thorough. This may be understandable to some effect but I wouldn't expect it to miss obvious clear faces like it seems to have.

Do you have to export to write the new tags/keywords into the metadata? If you over-write (to avoid duplicate copies) is a consequence of this the degrade (compression) of JPG's even if only slightly?

Having done a bit of a test I think the answers are yes and no in that order!

Phil
Thanks Pix

This is really weird. To test the tag editor i chose a folder of holiday snaps containing typical family 'portraits' and various scenic shots etc. 87 photos in total.

I exported a selection of the photos, family faces only and created a new folder. I ran the face tag editor and it picked up all the faces perfectly.

I then did the same thing on the original folder containing the 87 photos and it picked up hardly any although some faces (e.g. in the crowd) from photos that I did test!

To overcome the face tagging issue I have started to create ordinary tags with the names of those in the photos. However do you know whether these tags are automatically written to the exif/metadata? I think not because when I open the same photos in Picasa or Windows live they don't appear. Yet if I do it the reverse way around and remove/then reimport the file intoPD6 then they do?

I obtained PD6 for 'free' when upgrading Power Director 13 and wasn't really fussed - thought it would just be another photo manager. However I've generally been impressed with the user interface and some of its functionality. Just seem to be some funny quirks.

Thanks
This definitely doesn't work for me. I deleted the faces cache file (meaning that all my face tags went!) imported a single folder with about 80 photos containing very good single portraits and the analysis didn't recognise a 'face' in hardly any of them!

Phil
I am new to PHD. I have imported about 5000 photos and have been labouriously adding face tags automatically.

It's evident that a fair number of photos with obvious faces (e.g. a good quality portrait single person etc) haven't been tagged. I can't understand because when I re-search folders I get the message that after analysis no faces have been found.

Any ideas where this is going wrong?

Thanks

Phil
Thanks Pix
Yes I can do that but my virtual copies are across a large number of folders (about 5k photos) and so I was wondering if I could search but it doesn't seem to recognise 'virtual' in the file name.

Thanks
I have inadvertantly created a large number of virtual copies for a lot of photos. Any ideas how I can delete these in multiples rather than one by one?
Thank you Dafydd it's worked for me too.

PHil
PD12 & 13 at least.
