Camcorder button greyed out

I have a Panasonic PV GS300 digital camcorder that only has a USB port and a Dell D810 laptop that only has USB ports. No firewire port on either unit.

The camcorder button is greyed out on the Capture page. What do need to do to get the video from my camcorder to my laptop?

Try a Kworld USB device or similar.

I have used the search. This is what I got:

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/154.page

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/3741.page

None of them address my problem.

In capture mode, the dv button is greyed out. FAQ states it might be because I am connected via USB rather than firewire. This is true because neither my camcorder nor my Dell D810 laptop have firewire.

So how do I get info from my this camcorder into my laptop?

Charles

Charles,

Please look up the camera instructions.

miniDV with USB only? Not according the the spec I've just read.

VCR Mode
Panasonic’s VCR mode can be used for reviewing footage in-camera, controlling footage seen on a TV when connected to the cam via A/V cable, or for copying the video to a computer over either DV (FireWire or i.Link) or USB cables. Users may play, pause, fast forward, and stop playback using the joystick; they may also fast preview, fast reverse, and fast reverse preview.

Why haven't you looked up the spec of your camera?

Just returned from Fry's electronic store. Camcorder does have firewire port, computer does not. Purchased a Firewire notebook adapter and everything works now.

In bocca al lupo!!
